I was fortunate enough to go to the opening night of the Van Halen reunion tour w/ Sammy. I made the trip from Nashville to Greensboro and it was well worth the drive. It seemed as if the guys were having fun and Eddie was moving around like he was 20 years ago.
The setlist was:
Jump Runaround Humans Being Up For Breakfast (new song) Mikey's Bass Solo Somebody Get Me A Doctor (w/ Mikey on lead vocals) Poundcake It's About Time (new song) Alex's Drum Solo Top Of The World Unchained Why Can't This Be Love? Eagles Fly (Sammy Solo) Deeper Kind Of Love (Sammy solo) Learning To See (new song) Best Of Both Worlds Eddie's Guitar Solo Dreams Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love Right Now
Encore: You Really Got Me Panama When It's Love
Well worth the money and the road trip. Can't wait until they play here in Nashville.
That sounds incredible. Good to hear the band is still in good form. I love the fact they Sammy had a couple of solo songs.
Lloyd: When I met Mary, I got that old fashioned romantic feeling, where I'd do anything to bone her. Harry: That's a special feeling.

They come to Fresno in August at some point, my money is on them cancelling the show.

Maybe the wife of the player? In the context of baseball, felonies are crimes against society, not against baseball. In the context of baseball, gambling is the only crime against baseball.
Gambling, in the context of baseball, is a capital offense and Rose has richly earned-- hell, he agreed to-- his death sentence. Let him hang.

Not that, I just don't think that Sammy and the Van Halen boys will be able to keep the peace that long. I may be way off base.

According to Ed, he and Sam had a disagreement the other day, but all is cool ... I hope this reunion works out, because I don't want another singer ...
Hearing Sammy sing lead on "Jump"...that's just not right.
According to WAPL-FM in Appleton, the stage is modeled after the traditional Van Halen logo, complete with the ring around it...and there's seats in the ring. Way cool.
I hear they sold out pretty quickly when tix went on sale in Green Bay a week or so ago. Funny bit is...they had to open up the Brown County Arena ticket offices next door, because the actual venue of the VH concert, the Resch Center, was hosting a Jehovah's Witnesses convention that day, and they didn't want VH fans to have to go through a JW crowd to get tix.
C'mon, people, that's comedy GOLD right there!
Star wipe, and...we're out. Thrillin' ain't easy.

It would be crazy for them to completely ignore the Roth years, and certainly "Jump" is their biggest hit and has to be included.
I am, however, surprised to see some of the bigger Hagar hits missing. No "Love Walks In", no "Can't Stop Loving You", no "Finish What Ya Started" which is my favorite Van Hagar record (not that I'm any kind of a VH fan).
Incidentally, I always thought that if they had gone through with the reunion with Roth, it would have been very interesting to hear him sing "Finish What Ya Started".

Interesting points raised. As far as "Love Comes Walking In," the boys probably thought "Right Now" and "When It's Love" were/are bigger hits, and more deserving of set time. No slam on "Love Comes Walking In," which is actually a pretty good song - just maybe not as good as "Right Now" or "When It's Love."
In regards to "Can't Stop Loving You": let us all forget the piece of crap that was the "Balance" album. I got about three or four songs into that album before I had to stop listening, and never listened again. Wasn't that right around when Eddie cut his hair and sobered up? Eddie's kinda like Sampson - only in Eddie's case, when you cut his hair and sober him up, he sucks. :-D
"Finish What Ya Started" - actually a good song, but it's also the most un-Van-Halen Van Halen song ever, IMHO.
As for Roth singing, yeah, hearing Diamond Dave try to sing "Finish What Ya Started" would've been surreal. But maybe not quite as surreal as "Best of Both Worlds," "Dreams," or "Right Now."
On a somewhat unrelated note, if the boys go into the 20-minute version of "Best of Both Worlds" and the extended version of "5150" from "Live without a Net" when they play Tampa on September 9, I might just have to kill myself because life wouldn't get any better. :)
