Hello, I thought I might mention that the Transformers universe has reached it's 20th anniversary this year. With that the toy makers at Hasbro released a 20th Anniversary edition toy of Optimus Prime. This has to be the best and worst Transformer toy I've every had to own.
He's detailed to from head to toe like no other Transformer toy.
His accessories include his Energon Ax, Megatron Plazma Gun, His regular gun, and The Autobot Matrix of Leadership. The price tag is 63.96 at my local Wal-mart but check around you might be able to find him a bit cheaper or not. Check out the offical website for more on transformes and espically the Optimus at...

I picked up the Japanese version Masterpiece Convoy a few weeks ago via Hobby Link Japan and he absolutely blows any other TF out of the water in terms of articulation and detail. They did some pretty extensive changes to his transformation to get the robot to look like the show, but he's not too difficult to learn.
A couple of other points, I don't know about the domestic release, but the Japanese one has the cardboard liner inside the box as a cut-out that you can fold up to be the trailer. I've been told by a guy at a local toy shop that there's a 3rd party trailer being made (not Takara) that will be scaled for the toy.
I'm planning on picking up maybe 2 of the domestic ones, one for my best friend back in Cincy and one to set aside for my nephew for when he's older.
Also take a look, if you haven't already, at the Alternators line (Binaltech in Japan). More great detail and articulation, and they're scaled to the same size as the 20th OP.

Umm...what time warp did you step out from? The ORGINAL Transformers that were released in the US came about in 1984. That was the year the cartoon seris was released along with the toy line. Watch VH1 for 1984 year show where they discuss it and how cool the idea was. Also, they have been releasing the seris on DVD with the last DVD set being released today, 3/9/04, but here are the links to the rest.

OH MAN!!! I must own Electric Boogaloo. That's been out of print for years now - my only copy is taped off of a movie channel. Hopefully it will be so popular that Breakin' has to be released as well.
