Noted media gadfly Jeremy Roenick suffers broken jaw.

When asked for comment, Patrick Roy said, "Sorry, I couldn't hear you with these Stanley Cup Rings in my ears."

Either that or he was just too busy slapping his wife.

I think JR is a great representative for the sport, and I'm sorry he's out injured. He's entertaining both on and off the ice, and doesn't just another cliche-ridden interview.

(and this coming from a Leaf fan!)

And this injury is a lot more serious than just a broken jaw. He's got a severe concussion and is getting an MRI on Monday. He's out until at least the playoffs, if not longer.

Even as a Flyer fan who doesn't particularly adore Roenick, that was truly a devastating to have happen. A had a knee plow into my face during a soccer game in 1996, shattering my cheekbone in the process. It was not a fun experience. I had headaches for months, and had to have plastic surgery as a result.

Here's hoping Roenick can make a full recovery and lead a side-effect free life.

Karma Wheel? Screw you buddy, I used to hate Roenick but I've grown to like him. He just says what he wants to say and hockey needs a few guys like that in these troubled times. What will happen when he and Hull leave the game? WHO WILL STEP UP IN THE BATTLE OF PRESS QUOTES?

Also this year's All-Star Weekend was mostly entertaining because it was the All-Roenick Weekend. Apologizing to the ref he threw his water bottle at, being the first guy in years to get four out of four in four on the accuracy target shootout event, introducing the Barenaked Ladies and HITTING IN THE ALL-STAR GAME. It was all about the JR.

I'm with you there. Once those two are done there will be no more good interviews left in hockey. Roenick particularly is a good ambassador for the game. I remember him on PTI going through all the other sports and why they're more boring than hockey.

Seems things are worse than expected for JR.

News on Flyers' Roenick not good
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Flyers All-Star center Jeremy Roenick received discouraging news Wednesday after the results of a second MRI showed he may have suffered an injury to the circulatory system in his brain.

The Philadelphia Daily News reported Thursday that Roenick, who was scheduled to return to Philadelphia from his Phoenix home, was told by doctors to stay put.

"The doctors told me they didn't want me to travel," Roenick told the newspaper Wednesday night. "They said they wanted to do an angiogram. I've had better days. It's not good."

Roenick told the newspaper that an MRI test performed last week had to be done again because there was a blockage that prevented doctors from getting a complete picture in the area around his brain stem.

Roenick was injured during Philadelphia's 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers on February 12 at Madison Square Garden. He was hit in the face by a slap shot from the point by Rangers defenseman Boris Mironov in the third period. The impact knocked Roenick unconscious. After he came to, he was helped off the ice with a towel covering his face and left a pool of blood behind.

The 34-year-old Roenick was taken to nearby St. Vincent's Hospital, which is one of the major trauma centers in the New York City area. He subsequently had surgery to repair the jaw.

Roenick, who is in his third season with the Flyers, also suffered a major jaw injury late in the 1998-99 season. A broken jaw caused him to miss the final two regular-season games and six playoff contests while with Phoenix.

He began his career with Chicago in 1988.

Yes, even though the Flames are actually *above* .500, Head Coach Greg Gilbert is a little miffed at pretty much everyone. After the 4-2 loss to *Montreal*, he was quoted as saying that he's said all he's gonna say, and now it's time for action...
