Game 7 got the highest rating for the NHL since broadcast networks began carrying the finals in 1998. The rating was a 4.6 with an 8 share. Now hopefully they can build on this, but I guess that all depends on if they are stupid enough to not get the new CBA hammered out.
Strange, the numbers I got was a 4.1 with it peaking at a 4.6. Either or, it's certainly better number then they got on Saturdays (Game 6) XFLish 2.1 or Thursdays (Game 5) 2.5.
As an XFL fan I was kind of enjoying these ultra low numbers (even though I am a hockey fan) seeing all these sports snobs freak out.
Isn't their ABC/ESPN contract up this year?... I've heard rumors that Viacom's Spike TV might grab the NHL cable rights, and if that's the case does that mean they will get a Game of the Week on CBS?
cause there's limits to our liberties. 'Least I hope and pray that there are, cause those liberal freaks go too far.
I'll crush all opposition to me And I'll make Ted Kennedy pay If he fights back, I'll say that he's gay
I'd find CBS' transition from Sunday golf to Sunday hockey amusing, to say the least. I think the number I heard was 4.8, too. The 8 share seems about right.
Since they're building off of their highest rating (probably) ever, if that won't serve as an incentive to keep players playing over the next 2 seasons, nothing will. You can use baseball as a perfect example of destroying momentum on that one.
