But the poor guy has to play for Cleveland. May he rest in peace.

I think it would be incredibly ironic if the kid is a complete and total bust... even moreso that he's already been given $90 mil.
For that much money, he probably deserves Cleveland....
(Although I'm pissed that the Grizzlies couldn't quite get it to work out. Why'd they have to get 2nd? Grr... would've rather they got 8th. Damn, I hate incompetent management.)

He's only got $10 million of that right now, but I doubt he's complaining about that.
Personally, I don't think I'd enjoy it if he was a bust. And really, I don't see how the hell that could be possible. I can see lots of people being disappointed in him, thinking that he's going to score 35ppg in his rookie season, but by all realistic standards, this guy should be a badass.
As for deserving Cleveland, he could have gotten a hell of a lot worse (like Denver, the place where basketball players go to die).

All it takes is a knee or a back problem and he's the next Larry Johnson.
At halftime of the Nets/Pistons squash, Mike Tirico interviewed LeBron who had a Nike headband on.
Didn't take that long for him to do that.
Of course not. For 90 million I'd let them tattoo the Swoosh on my dick.
I'm pretety sure Darko is going to be better than both of them...

Th problem is that the Cavs will be horrible for the next few years. Is any veteran going to go to Cleveland for the chance to play with LeBron? Not unless they pay them a ton of money.
LeBron will average 20+ points per game. Most of them dunks for Sportscenter.
The real question is will he develop a decent outside shot?
Does anybody know anything about Darko? I hadn't even heard of the guy until I tried the LeBron Lottery thing on espn.com. I don't really like Carmello, but I think he'd be a better fit. I mean damn, Michael Curry is starting at small forward for the Pistons right now. Dumars seems to think Darko is great though, so I guess he must be on to something.
Detroit is gonna start looking like the Bulls in the 90s with their third 7-foot white guy.
Provided Tayshaun Prince can keep his play at the level it's been throughout the playoffs, the Pistons don't really need Carmelo. What they need is size and rebounding help for Wallace, which is what Darko could offer. Darko isn't really ready for NBA play yet, but he has a massive upside that Carmelo can't match.
(edited by Underwater on 23.5.03 1555) Detroit Pistons: 8 wins away. At least we get Darko
In today's NBA, if you can sign a good big man, do it (unless of course LeBron is in the draft). A combination or Darko and Wallace will be very scary for opposing frontcourts.

There's no WAY he's going to score that much in his first season. You forget that Dajuan Wagner and Ricky Davis are already there. The Cavs may suck, but these guys are GOOD. Unforunately, it takes more than two super scorers to make a good team. LeBron will score 15ish ppg, which is still pretty damn impressive. You're right though, that jumper needs work.

Between LeBron, Ricky Davis and DaJuan Wagner, the pieces are starting to fall into place. I could see some vet sign a deal with Cleveland in order to help accelerate the rebuilding process.

Well, for the Cavs to be good, those guys are going to have to be unselfish with the ball. If the three of them just try to pump up their scoring averages(I'm looking mostly at Ricky Davis), they'll stink again.

You're probably right, but that strategy does work for some teams. Remember the Bucks a few years ago when they had the Big Three of Glenn Robinson, Sam Cassell and Ray Allen? They made it all the way to the Eastern Conference finals with those three guys scoring the vast majority of their team's points on many nights.
Freddy Adu, a 13-year-old soccer phenom whose family relocated from Ghana to Potomac five years ago, has agreed to a $1 million contract with Nike after signing with one of the sport's top agents, sources said, but he is unlikely to sign a professional playing contract for at least another year.
LeBron James. Dajuan Wagner. Ricky Davis. Darius Miles. Zydrunas Iilgauskas. Carlos Boozer.
This team is going to be absolutely L O A D E D with raw young talent. All they need is a coach (LARRY BROWN!) and a veteran or two to bring them together and they'll be one of the top teams in the East before we know it.
wade wade wade wade wade wade wade wade They'd be happy with LeBron or Bosh, but they badly want Wade, and everything falls apart if it's not one of those three.
