I had an argument with a friend last night and I figure you guys could settle it. My friend and I are huge Type O Negative fans and he was saying that TON is only an east coast band. I believe that the band has had airplay all over the country. Who's right?
I don't know if this will help solve the problem or not, but I used to occasionally hear TON on the radio when I lived in central Indiana. I won't say that a lot of it was played but there was a small radio presence.

Well I know they performed live on Howard Stern at least once, and Howard would sometimes play their version of Cinnamon Girl occasionally. As an aside, I saw Type O when I was at Penn State, and they were great. But I sure as hell wouldn't want to piss off their lead singer, that guy is HUGE! I don't know who's scarier, him or Glen Danzig.

I know I've heard them on the radio and bought "Bloody Kisses" in central Texas. But then Type O Negative never really struck me as a radio friendly band no matter where you are.
That reminds me, are TON American or European?

I used to play them occasionally on the college station out here. They allright but not something I would buy. The record company was big on saying how much Eddie VanHalen liked the guitar player.

Type O Negative is a Brooklyn NY band...but they have Russian roots
The lead singer, Pete Steele is 6'7" and is not only friggin scary but also funny as hell. He also writes great lyrics about love and wanting to kill his ex girlfriend with a chainsaw. Great music to listen to when you're pissed!
The band is based out of Brooklyn, but is popular worldwide. I know at least one of their albums (October Rust) went gold...and I wouldn't be surprised if Bloody Kisses did as well.
The post above this is correct, Peter Steele is f'ing hilarious. The commentary on their DVD "After Dark" is probably the funniest commentary I've ever heard on any DVD (this coming from a guy who owns the entire Evil Dead trilogy, Simpsons Season 1, and all Kevin Smith films on DVD).
Peter Steele is more frightening than Danzig. Steele's like 6'5 and large. He's gotten old and a little fat in recent years (by his own admission), but he's still a lot spookier than Uncle Glenn.
Glenn Danzig was "scary" in the 80's and early 90's, I suppose, but now he's just a short old guy. Can still write some good stuff though.
