Congratulations to Brett Hull, who scored his 700th career goal earlier tonight! A fine effort put forth, and a great accomplishment by a future Hall of Famer.
Brett Hull always rubbed me the wrong way. The smug, Cheshire-cat grin, the casual attitude, the whining in the press ... he always seemed to me to be in it for himself, and didn't disguise the fact.
But I've changed my mind the last few years. The fact that he's had the dedication to stay at the top of his game for so long when he's had more than enough cash to just kick up his heels at poolside says a lot. The fact that year after year he improves whatever team he plays for says a lot. The fact that he's usually right when he shoots his mouth off says ... well he just says a lot.
Good for him. 700 goals for the Golden Brett.
I hate the army and I hate the RAF I don't wanna go fighting in the tropical heat. I hate the civil service rules And I won't open a letter bomb for you. ------------------------------------------------ Joe Strummer Lives!
I remember watching him play college hockey and thinking he was going to be good - if he had taken a paycheck from my Rangers he probably would have been poolside with his heels up iunstead of the hardworking two way player he has been these last few years in Dallas & Detroit
Congrats on 700

I guess I'll always be peeved that a guy from Belleville, Ontario could play for the USA, but he's an excellent player and at least he's an interesting interview, not a typical cliche-spouting hockey player.
We didn't even get cable in our part of Vermont until my junior year in college and we sure as hell never saw any college games on any of the 6 channels we got
