I don't know if this will be deleted or not, but I REALLY want to see this game (and the Legends Game) and seeing as how I don't have NHL Center Ice, I was wondering if anyone who is receiving the broadcast was willing to tape the game for me.
I'll pay for the shipping and reimburse the price of the blank tape.
I would love to tape it for you, but hell I don't even own a VCR anymore. (Damn Betavision)
But if you are in Canada and own a Hi-def reciever (me) you can watch both games in Hi-def....which I will...
YAY for me...

Need I say more?"
This is the first regular season game in a long time that's a real event. My pals and I are actually getting together specifically to watch this game on Saturday, which NEVER happens unless it's playoffs.
Frankly, the old-timers game might be more fun.
Let's put this in the plainest terms possible: Darryl Strawberry has no business instructing anybody about anything. He has never done a thing in his life to warrant a position of guidance. Not on the field. Not off the field.-- David Vescey, si.com
My years of loyal servitude have paid off, because I got the day off from work on Saturday to watch BOTH games...and I didn't even have to ask for it. I love my job, and I love hockey.
My roommate will be at the game, but he has gone from being very excited to being very worried, as the high will only reach -10. He is still recovering from being outside for the Grey Cup last weekend in Regina, and he has been popping the echinacea all week.
I will also be having a little Heritage Classic party with a couple of friends coming over to watch. I'm really looking forward to it!
I can see it possibly being a disaster if a lot of players end up getting bad colds...will the bench areas be heated? You go out, skate for 1-2 minute shifts, then sit down again? That's going to be rough.
FUnny how Canada and the US of EH? are different; both the Megastars game AND the Oilers/Canadiens game are being shown on broadcast TV, out here. Even those too cheap to buy cable (those with bunny ears!) can get the game!
Anyhow, I'm taping both games, so if anyone needs this, I'll be willing to lend the video to them, complete with Calgary commercials and Coaches Corner! Woohoo!
My roommate left this morning for Edmonton with a look of terror on his face, as it was -25 earlier in Edmonton. The stadium crew will be using ice scrapers to get the people off the seats after the game!
I heard about both games being broadcast NEXT week on ESPN Classic, but even with that, the coverage will pale in comparison to the coverage that both games will be receiving in Canada.
I recently bought a copy of the CBC's broadcast of Wayne Gretzky's final game and it blew away FOX's version.
Now I'm seeing ESPN ads for "American Made Hockey" being delivered on Thursdays. Welcome back glowing puck?
Grant Fuhr is/was a god!!!! What a show he put on...
Not a great game, but it was kinda neat to see all of the greats together...

I tell you, I was getting misty-eyed during the alumni game. It really made me proud to be Canadian to see our game played outdoors, with a lot of fun had by all, even with a -28 windchill in the evening. The legends came out and we honoured them graciously. Seeing Gretzky in an Oilers sweater sent a chill up my spine.
This should be done once a year in the Canadian cities, definitely. I'll be first to try for tickets at McMahon Stadium.
On a side note, the running camera along the side of the ice provided some great angles! They should incorporate that into some indoor games as well.
I kinda agree with Kelly Hrudey about not making this an annual thing because it's too hard on the players, especially the goalies.
You'd have to really talk to them and get their feelings on it because it's one thing to play the alumni game where they're pretty much just playing shinny and it's another for the real game where it increases the chances of injury greatly.
That being said it was a great day for hockey and a great day to be a fan. Just seeing glimpses of Gretzky working behind the net gave me chills.
I also heard the announcers say that the Canucks are working on an idea of holding a game inside of BC Place Stadium next year for their 35th Anniversary. It'd also act as a trial run of sorts for the 2010 Olympics where they've talked about holding the gold medal game inside of BC Place.

That's not really that novel though. The Lightning played at Tropicana Field(back when it was the Thunderdome) for a couple of years in the mid-90s.

I wish I had seen the game - the pictures of Mess in his Oilers uniform were priceless - I hope they do it again but with a US team involved so we can see it in the states........didn't the Kings-Rangers play an exhibition game outside in Las Vegas a few years back ?
