With this "season" rapidly coming to a close (the end of the month) that leaves room on SyFy for one more (short) season of the show (before SD moves there and supposing the network doesn't make more room for WWE programing).
While most of the IWC takes great pleasure in lambasting NXT on a weekly basis, there really isn't any word on WWE itself seeing it as any kind of epic fail. There is in fact word circulating around the newz sites that plans for a 3rd (and likely last) season. This suposedly will see 4 Superstar (read males) and 4 Diva "Rookies". This particular specualtion is due to the fact that since all previous "rookies" have come from FCW and that their current roster is still mostly Nexus and NXT2 guys and they aren't really keen on inflating it further.
So I am opening speculation on who the prospective season 3 rookies will be. Given the current plan would be a short and last season I feel it's reasonable to assume they would be rolling out the top shelf with a probable future spot on the main roster for most or all of them.
For Divas I see... 1) Christina Crawford. She is not officially on the FCW roster page but has been signed to a developmental contract. She is Alicia Fox's real life sister so there is a built in angle. Lets guess they will name her oh, Felicia??? 2) AJ Lee. They have already been using her in a limited basis on house shows so they must think she's close to ready. 3) Naomi Night. She is the current FCW Divas Champion. 4) Either a) Aksana or b) Liviana, the 2 other FCW divas who aren't already on the main roster. OR an indy wrestler who was at the recent open tryout OR (and given WWE Logic this strikes me as most likely) a D-List or lower model/actress from the underground diva search they are conducting via talent agents.
Superstar Rookies... 1) Richie Steamboat. Although it would be unthinkable to give him a ridiculous name, they might. 2) Brett DiBiase. Ted's brother, the other fortunate son. 3) Duke Rotundo. IRS' other son / Husky Harris' brother. "Slim Harris"???? 4)Donny Marlow. Haku's son. OR Mason Ryan. The new FCW Champion. OR Tyler Black. Recently signed, he is the ROH Champion, a promotion that doesn't exist in the WWE Universe so he has the built in angle of being the "internet sensation" that Michale Cole instantly hates/buries every week.
Random Pro speculation
Superstars...The Miz for the 3rd time or Big Show, Kurt Hawkins, JTG, Chavo Guerrero.
Divas... Finlay, Goldust, Evan Bourne, Rosa Mendes
If its going to be a short season before Smackdown goes to Syfy, they should do 4 tag teams. Still 8 rookies, but you eliminate them 2 at a time. I'm not familiar with FCW, did they break up tag teams to get guys on NXT season 1 and 2?

I like that idea ... but to add a twist on it, each participant is still an "individual", but the last two standing will be packaged as a team. Thus, you've gotta get along with everyone to an extent in order to potentially win ...
