In silencing the cynic within me, I can't help but think "love of the game". There is nary a man alive who's suited up and played that doesn't have a gleam in his eye whenever he recants his playing days, no matter how menial. Ricky Williams is young, in his prime, and good at the game. I guess being a celebrity might have blocked out why he loved it.
However, the cynic within me is rolling it's eyes saying "I told you so".

He fulfilled his life's ambitions in a little over a month? Damn. Also, someone call Phineas Fogg, since Ricky just went around the world in a helluva lot shorter time than 80 days.
To hell with him. I agree with Zach Thomas, he has burned his bridges and built up too much hositility to be welcomed back with open arms. This whole ploy was nothing more than Ricky trying to create a corner to paint the team into to try and force more money out of them. It didn't work, the Fish are dead in the water four games in because of it, and now he wants to pretend nothing happened? Forget it.
I'll always be a Dolphins fan, but I don't care how bad this season gets I don't want Ricky back. If things weren't going so horrendously bad this season I'd be content to have let him sit out the rest of his deal and effectively ruin his career. Now I'll just settle for trading the guy and being rid of his nonsense once and for all.

As a lifelong Dolphin fan, I couldn't agree more. If the 'Fins welcome him back, that's when I burn all paraphenalia related to the Dolphins and join the ranks of the Texan fans!!!
