The NWA World Heavyweight Championship, known as the "Ten Pounds Of Gold," (which the NWA youtube show has been named after) will be defended at a blockbuster event celebrating the 70th anniversary of the National Wrestling Alliance at 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21 at the historic Asylum at the Nashville Fairgrounds.
It is available via the Fite.tv as well.
Fight card: Match 1. NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship - 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match Cody (c) vs. Nick Aldis
Nick Aldis (Magnus) is the former champion. Cody won the title from him at All In last month. Aldis has come to represent the legacy of traditional NWA wrestling, while Cody (the first son of a NWA Champion to claim his father’s old title) is positioning himself to be the creator of a new framework for Pro Wrestling with his Elite. Cody is a fan favorite who acts heelish. Aldis is a heel who has been acting like a babyface lately.
Cody will probably have Brandi Rhodes and Bernard the Business Bear in his corner. Given how badly Aldis was screwed by interfearance from Brandi and Team Cody at All In, this time Aldis will have a blonde henchwoman at ringside.
This is more or less the one match that the show is built around, with it receiving the bulk of the hype on the Ten Pounds of Gold Youtube Show.
Match 2. NWA Worlds Women's Championship Jazz (c) vs. Penelope Ford
Jazz was the champion before Billy Corgan took over and rebooted the company in 2017. Her title has been on hiatus since then, and this will mark her first defense of the new era.
Matches 3, 4, and 5: NWA National Heavyweight Championship Tournament Semi-Finals (Winners Of The Two Four-Way's Meet In The Finals) A Block: Colt Cabana vs. Sammy Guevara vs. Scorpio Sky vs. Sam Shaw B Block: Willie Mack vs. Jay Bradley vs. Ricky Starks vs. Mike Parrow A Block Winner v. B Block Winner
The NWA National Championship is either a new title (vacant), or a restoration of one of the multiple previous NWA belts with the “National” branding. Ten Pounds of Gold hasn’t had a midcard division before, so this should be intriguing.
Colt Cabana has been making appearances on Ten Pounds of Gold as a former world champ. Sam Shaw (best known for his artist/creepy TNA character) has been the voiceover guy in Ten Pounds of Gold. Scorpio Sky is a Being the Elite and RoH regular as a member of SoCal Uncensored.
Willie Mack just got hired by TNA, and was Cody’s handpicked first challenger for the world title a couple of weeks ago. Jay Bradley in his Aiden O’Shea gimmick was Billy Corgan’s hired goon in TNA.
Match 6: Tim Storm vs. Peter Avalon
Tim Storm was the oldest man ever to hold the NWA title. He was the champion when Billy Corgan took over and during the initial Ten Pounds of Gold episodes. He plays a verteran Ric Flair role. Peter Avalon got the better of him in their matches in Championship Wrestling from Arizona, which have been shown on the NWA youtube channel.
Match 7: Tag Team Open Challenge Crimson and Jax Dane (w/ Road Warrior Animal) vs. Holly Wood and the mysterious Spiritual Advisor (w/Jocephus)
Jocephus has been the cult leader villain and primary main event heel of NWA thus far. He is mad at Crimson for leaving his cult.
Crimson was best known for his TNA run as the dragon of the 2011 Main Event Mafia. His partner Jax Dane was the last NWA Champion from before Billy Corgan’s regime. His reign has been mentioned, but he hasn’t been presented as a main eventer for the past couple of years. Crimson and Jax Dane were briefly in TNA as “the Veterans of War” team.
Currently the NWA tag titles are on hiatus, and will not return until 2019.
Match 8: Laredo Kid vs. Barrett Brown
Random unhyped match.
Magnum TA will present the NWA National Championship belt to the winner of the National title mini tournament. Jim Cornette will be on color commentary for the full show, and Tony Schiavone will call the main event.
Fight card: Match 1. NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship - 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match Cody (c) vs. Nick Aldis
Being the Elite has been hyping that the Elite as a whole may be heading to a new promotion come January. But, it feels as if there is time to tell more of Cody’s story before then.
Winner: Cody
Match 2. NWA Worlds Women's Championship Jazz (c) vs. Penelope Ford
I don’t see Jazz losing the belt in her return match.
Winner: Jazz
Matches 3, 4, and 5: NWA National Heavyweight Championship Tournament Semi-Finals (Winners Of The Two Four-Way's Meet In The Finals) A Block: Colt Cabana vs. Sammy Guevara vs. Scorpio Sky vs. Sam Shaw
I’ll go with Colt Cabana as a former world champion, although I’ll be rooting for Shaw.
Winner: Colt Cabana
B Block: Willie Mack vs. Jay Bradley vs. Ricky Starks vs. Mike Parrow
I figure they will want to build around Corgan’s former henchman. One episode of Ten Pounds of Gold implies that Bradley is still working for Corgan in that role.
Winner: Jay Bradley
A Block Winner v. B Block Winner
If Shaw is in the finals, I think he wins. But given my picks above, I presume it will be Bradley beating Cabana.
Winner: Jay Bradley
Match 6: Tim Storm vs. Peter Avalon
Avalon is 2-0, so Storm finally wins one in a feel good moment.
Winner: Tim Storm
Match 7: Tag Team Open Challenge Crimson and Jax Dane (w/ Road Warrior Animal) vs. Holly Wood and the Spiritual Advisor (w/Jocephus)
The chick team will get a DQ victory via Jocephus’s mindgames. The tag team division won’t exist until 2019, so this will be more of angle to further the Crimson v. Jocephus feud.
Winner: Holly Wood and the Spiritual Advisor
Match 8: Laredo Kid vs. Barrett Brown
Laredo Kid hasn’t been in TNA much lately, so maybe NWA is planning to build around him as an X-division guy.

I'm fairly sure that anything of that nature would have been run by the front office beforehand. And they weren't shy about trivialising Eddie's death last night, so I don't see why a more subtle cheapening of it two days previous would rile them so much.
