From reading reaction elsewhere, I understand CBS was airing some sort of teaser ad that hinted in this direction (I never actually saw it, or I saw it and it made no impact.) What a blindside to end the season.
If there's an improvement to be made, they really should've ended the episode two minutes earlier, with everyone reacting to the ending, rather than try and go with the happy drinking family final scene.
South Park closed out the season with one of the most offensive and racist things they've done in quite a while, Cartman's "Not My Waterpark" song. But God help me, I thought it was hilarious.
