This event, of course, would only work in Canada. Having said that and knowing the atrocity that is NHL coverage in the States...I'm hoping that even ESPN can see that this game should be televised here in the States.
They showed a dry run of the rink setup in Commonwealth stadium. If it all comes off as expected with 50,000 some fans attending, it's gonna be quite the spectacle.
I hope this works. If the NHL can get some outdoor games in, even if it's in East German Snot, Saskatchewan, it'll be great for attendance and ratings, just to spice things up.
Of course, it's mroe likely that the ice will melt, or that it'll snow, or that something else simply awful will happen.
Sometimes I ask myself why I watch WWE after all the crap it's given me. HLA, necro, HHH, and so on. And then it hits me. That one simple phrase that can be modified and used for anything that gets you down, yet makes you keep coming back.
Every episode has the potential to be the best one ever, and I'll be damned if I'm going to miss it after sitting through this shit.
Are any of the Western Canadian weiners planning on going? I am moving to Calgary in Sept so I'm thinking this game would be worth the drive to Edmonton, just for the spectacle of it all.

We're actually trying to get a crew from here in Calgary to head up. As much as Edmonton both sucks and blows, it should be a blast.
When I was in grad school a decade ago (at Bowling Green), the CCHA was on PASS (which is now I guess Fox Sports Detroit). But they only ever showed Michigan, Michigan State or Lake State. We were lucky to get on twice a year.
