Sylvan Blouin is still in the NHL ???? He is terrible and can't even fight.
Toronto got itself a very talented headcase in Belfour - I don't know if his fragile off-ice psyche can handle the scrutiny of the Toronto Fans and Media - down in Dallas, Mark Cuban helped to make him normal.
Heard the Bruins have thrown an offer to Teemu Selanne but he will probably stay in San Jose.
Darius Kasparaitis is my new favorite Ranger !!!! Now go re-sign Richter.
Updated: Selanne has re-signed, Richter has re-signed... Guerin and Scott Young signed with the Stars. The Rangers have done their yearly spending spree...pointless as it'll turn out to be. Theo Fleury is reportedly in negotiations with the Calgary Flames on a return, possibly for less money (around $3.5M per year)...while the Flames also are in negotiations with Jarome "The Whole F'n Show" Iginla (most likely $6-7M per year). Fleury and Iginla on the same line? COOL!

Well, let's just examine the Canadian teams...then the big guns:
Toronto Maple Leafs Lost Curtis Joseph, gained Ed Belfour. Quality of goaltending arguably goes down, age goes up, the rest of the team stays the same.
Calgary Flames Lost Mike Vernon, gained Jamie McLennan and Martin Gelinas. Quality of goaltending goes up...age goes down, the rest of the team is made up of the same guys as before, plus a couple prospects.
Edmonton Oilers Uh... They haven't really *done* anything. So...same as last year.
Ottawa Senators Uh... Same as Oilers. 'Cept the Sens are a LOT better than them.
Montreal Canadiens They've got gritter and stronger with Randy McKay, otherwise they're about the same.
New York Rangers More expensive free agents to replace the outgoing Theoren Fleury...but they probably will do as much as Fleury did.
San Jose Sharks Re-signed a lot of guys, but that's about it.
Dallas Stars Re-signed a lot of guys, but also added BILL F'N GUERIN. Could be a lot better if they got Amonte, but they're still tops.
Detroit Red Wings The Champs upgraded goaltending with a younger, stronger Cujo...but keep the rest of the team the same. Don't mess with the chemistry.

With Tom Hicks money, who says they won't? :)

That's what I'm talking about! Now the Jackets have got those 2 and Klesla on the blue line. Considering how crappy that defense was last year, I think they could just rotate those 3 and be better.
Also, hockey is slowly heading towards a baseball-like labor battle. Sad, but true.
The Rangers helped themselves down the middle with the addition of Holik and hurt the devils in the process - addition by subtraction within their own division. Kasparaitis is a definite upgrade over Karpa and/or Ulanov who were both FA busts and he is also the kind of player that the fans at MSG will go crazy for - and lastly both Holik and Lindros were major tormentors for Erica in the past that are now on his side - again addition by subtraction......word is Nedved is being shopped to Calgary and that if he goes (more like when) then Sather will pursue signing Amonte.
The Rangers have decided that $32.5m for 5 years is a bit much to pay for Amonte and it looks like the evil fishstix out on the island have said the same thing too - now that Amonte is the only UFA left the owners have decided to "draw the line" on salaries ????
Try Nedved to Calgary for Morris or to Phoenix for Shane Doan - I would take Doan for Nedved in a heartbeat - Shane Doan has the look of an Adam Graves circa 93-95...if Sather can pull that trigger I say like Ahhnld said in Predator - Do it ! Do it now !
Flames GM Craig Button has already said that while the Flames are interested in Nedved, his salary is too much to handle. Look for the Flames to go after Theo Fleury instead, who'll play for less money.

Originally posted by SocksRumour has it Tie Domi will sign with Nashville!
The Preds need a defensive guy. They have a young team that just gets there asses handed to them all the time. One of our top players,Scott Hartnell had,I think,2 concussions last year. The last one was caused because a member of the St. Louis Blues drove his head in the boards and wasn't called for a penalty and we had no one to get payback with.
But I kinda doubt that Tie Domi will sign with the li'l Nashville Predators.

"Calvary's here;calvary's a frightened guy with a rock, but it's here"
So, after the rush of signings...so far it seems as if The Rangers are the big winners...or are they? They always splurge on big-name players...(Fleury)...and nothing comes of it. You can't buy team chemistry.

Under no circumstances should a team be able to make 50-60 foot passes on a regular basis. The Canadian defensemen played a horrible game letting the Swedes get behind them on a consistant basis.
