Winning isn't everything, but it's more important.
1. 12 drivers in the chase
2. Chase seeded by wins. all drivers in the chase start at 5000 and then get 10 points for each win during the regular season as their start for the chase. So it doesn't matter if you finished 12th in the chase (because of DNFs or whatever), you still start out first in the finals
3. 5 more points this year for a win than last year.
I don't think this is really going to do anything. Yeah, it SOUNDS like you would get more credit for having more wins at face value, but when you look at the 2004 Chase, for example, it barely would've changed anything, and Kurt Busch (with three wins) still would've been ahead of Jimmie Johnson (with eight wins) going into the last race.
Personally, I think they should have a separate points system for the Chasers AND they should revamp the points so they aren't scored all the way through the field. Some drivers, like Jeff Burton and Carl Edwards, have been calling for the points to be te same from 30th or 35th on back, which would make a bad finish not so crippling.
