What a week. First I see that Becky Slater was Winnie Cooper's sister, now this. Crazy.

Looks cool. Can't hurt to try and at least try to look somewhat different as they try to re-build and distance themselves from what they've (been and) become over the past . . . geez . . . I can only remember them being in the playoffs once since I've been watching football (since '76), which may or may not be right, but if it is, I can't be off by more than once appearance I'm thinking (but I'm sure someone will produce the stats to prove me wrong!).
I like that they appear to be keeping the same color scheme as the "Honolulu Blue" looks sharp with grey and black accents. Other teams have had success when switching to new colors, or uniforms so best of luck to them (except when they play the Seahawks of course).

The Lions made the playoffs a bunch of times with Barry Sanders. They were 12-4 and made it to the NFC title game in 1991 (losing to the Redskins like 42-7 or something like that). They also made the playoffs in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997 and 1999.

EPIC UNIFORM VICTORY
Ditto. Those colors just *POP* whereas the more "metalic" blue and gold ones they have now just don't do it for me. Plus, an alternate Yellow jersey in those colors would cause me to consider buying a jersey of a hated division rival depending on the specific player jersey involved.

You can't slight the Lions for changing their uniforms at all. Superstition and Sports go hand in hand, and maybe this will remove the jinx of the 2008 Lions.

Kirk, crackers are a family food. Happy families. Maybe single people eat crackers, we don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know. It's a market we can do without.

It worked for the Bucs!
Heh, the Bucs' uniform and logo change was far more dramatic.

Drafting John Lynch, Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber and Warrick Dunn in a two- or three-year span helps as well.
I think the Broncos' change in unis coincided with their run to back-to-back Superbowls as well.

Same with the Patriots. The Seahawks and Cardinals underwent changes too, and that took them at least to the dancefloor. The Giants changed their away jerseys the year they beat New England. And, as stated already, Tampa went from nobody to legitimate as soon as they got the current uniforms.
However, as for the Chargers and Bengals, well, time will tell. To be fair, the Bengals did make the playoffs after their latest change. It hasn't done much for the Eagles, although 5 NFC Championship appearances in a decade is far better than what the Lions have accomplished. Even the Vikings have had a slight resurgance to relevance with their new uniforms, although that may or may not be on account of a weak NFC North division.
Granted, there are many factors involved other than the uniforms. Elway getting a running game to back him up in his age, the Patriots catching lightning with Brady, The Buccaneers drafting strongly on the defensive side of the ball and keeping those players, Kurt Warner getting to play with an outstanding recieving corps, etc. Odds are the Lions have a much better season this year (even without new uniforms/logos), but it's just plain easier to think of having new Sunday finest than trying to wash the stains out of your old.
However, as a caveat, the new uniform dazzle did kind of backfire on the Rams. Win the Superbowl, change your look, lose next year, slide down the spiral...

Well, I know that SD in Madden is very kick ass. The secondary are INT machines. I don't know how this bodes for the real season, but hopefully, it's an indication of something. Of course, I also moved them to Mexico City at my first chance. :>
