Last night they had The Eagles Farewell Concert and it was unbelievable. Their musicianship, vocals, stage presence (watching Frye crack up to Walsh's antics was HILARIOUS), everything, just.........wow. Did anyone else see this last night? Leading to tonight: "Hit Me Baby One More Time!" I honestly can't wait for this show, being able to seee Loverboy, the Knack, Wan Chung, Tiffany and Vanilla Friggin' Ice go on stage again is worth the time on my screen.
I take it you get some sort of perverse pleasure from DATING yourself in such a public fashion? Next you'll be trying to pawn of copies of your "Best of WHAM!" CD...
Caught the tail end of tonight's "Hit Me Baby 1 More Time." Arrested Development won, and got to perform the same song again to end the show ("Tennessee").
I saw some of the Eagles concert too. I was never a huge fan of the Eagles, but it was still kinda pathetic for me to see Joe Walsh acting like a goofy old man onstage. Again, that's just me.
Originally posted by Mayhem A Flock of Seagulls performing the song "On the Way Down" was one of the worst pieces of crap I've ever seen.
I'm watching that performance right now and my jaw is hanging open. The show is turning out worse than I expected it to be. It's pretty sad.
Also, did I hear wrong or have they been saying the whole night that CeCe Peniston would be singing/sang Faith EVANS' "There You'll Be", when it's really Faith HILL who sang the tune. I swear I heard "Evans" twice through the show so far.
"What good is mining nose gold if you can't share it with the Townspeople?!"
This show was brutal. We kept watching for the car-wreck factor.
A Flock of Seagulls wasn't the band. It was Mike Score. I had seen the VH-1 show where the bands reunite and I was pretty sure that Ali Score, Frank Maudsley and Paul Reynolds weren't going to play with this egomaniac again. Mike Score's voice is pathetic. I am sure he was trying to get face time for his "new Flock," but they stink.
Mike Reno of Loverboy was really creepy, too. His voice hasn't aged particularly well either. Doing "Hero" was actually better than "Working for the Weekend," which I wouldn't have guessed in a bazillion years.
Arrested Development was actually pretty good and deserved to win, though winning was getting $20,000 for their favorite charity.
And the host? Good lord, did he suck. Foreign accent, reading from cue cards. Ultra repetitive.
I'll probably keep tuning in because I want to see how bands like The Knack and Wang Chung look and sound now, but this is cringe-inducingly bad programming.
My thoughts exactly. I hated the host and thought he killed whatever good was lef tin the show.
The Flock of Seagulls was one of my favorite bands from the '80s and "I Ran" remains one of my all time favorite songs from that decade and I was really psyched to see them perform but when Mike Score opened his month I thought I died. he was awful. And the worse part, is they completely cut out the drum part in the middle, which is criminal. They did the same with Loverboy's "Working for the Weekend". Too bad. This show had promise if for nothing else but nostaglia. Too bad.
You can do it Otto! You can do it Otto!
Make this spare, I'll give you free gelato!
Then back to my place where I will get you blotto!
I thought they should have cut the acts per ep back to 4 or even 3 so they could at least get thru a full verion of their own hits.
No, Mike Reno's voice has not aged well, and I wouldn't want to see him try to squeeze into those red leather pants.
If there's only one Seagull left, can they continue to call it a flock?
I thought Arrested Development did the best so I was glad they won, but I'd rather have a say in the proceedings than leave it up to some studio audience.
Somebody on the VH-1 Classic Discussion Board said Tiffany had perfected the preganant hooker look with her first outfit. Ouch.
Looking forward to A-Ha and Wang Chung so I will continue to watch that freakshow of a host tower over everyone.
It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them. P. G. Wodehouse (1881 - 1975), The Man Upstairs (1914)
Wow. Did THAT suck. I was all settled in when the show started and was really pumped when they announced Loverboy as the first act. Then they started singing. "Everybody's Working For The Weekend." I've heard better at karaoke. Hell, I'VE sung that song with my buddy's band and did better. THEN, A Flock of Seagulls butchered "I Ran So Far Away". What is this, Solid Gold '05, minus the lip sync (which I would have preferred)? Tiffany actually didn't do a bad job, but she looks to have gained some weight since her playboy spread (pun intended). And for the love of GOD, did we have to put up with Loverboy covering Iglasius' "Hero"? Arrested Development as the winner? Ugh. Guess I won't be watching next week. Hell, I'd even watch Smackdown over this, and THAT should tell you something.
I thought the Eagles were pretty good. Walsh has always been that way, so it was no surprise that he still is...
The rest of the group was great. I was amazed at how great Don Henley voice sounded after all these years.
I didn't watch last nights show, and by the sounds of it, it was a good thing I didn't....
Is it going to be a regular thing? It's kind of like the VH1 Bands Reunited on network TV.... I might have to check who is going to be on just to see if there is anyone I might want to watch...

867-5309.... Have to check out Tommy Tutone. My 4 year old sings that song all the time now...
On another related not, I laughed the other day. My kids rented the second Ninja Turtle live action movie, and Vanilla Ice performs on stage in it during a scene in a night club. I almost died from the laughter....
EDIT: btw, thanks Pieman!!
