A while back, CRZ posted a thread People who didn't shut up in July (wienerboard.com) where he included a link to the Most Active Users (wienerboard.com) page. Sometimes, when I'm either bored or feeling vain, I like to go see where I rank, but unless I'm on my home computer (where I've bookmarked the link -- I'm bored or vain quite often, apparently), I have to dig up the old thread to get the link. Anyway, I was wondering if we couldn't maybe have a link added to the top underneath the spinning logo. Would that be possible???

I think there are crocs in the sewers. Great big honking ones...
On a related note, I thought of an interesting stat that I couldn't seem to find anywhere around here: Average replies per thread started. For example, Poster A has started 20 threads, but 3 of them have 0 replies. (and 10 others only have an average of 5 replies) However, Poster B has only started 15 threads, but 10 of them have over 20 replies each.
I know posters to the Links folder and Contributors would have their numbers off a bit, but it would still be kinda cool to see who has the most "drawing power" around here. Maybe it could just be limited to certain forums or something like that.
Whatever. Just fighting boredom. I like numbers.
I wish they made Advent calendars for WrestleMania, although I'd skip the Mark Henry day.

I could and should debate this, but I'D hate to kill this thread. And then there's always CRZ who kills MANY threads. He's probably ended more then the both of us combined, I'll bet.

If we're drifting off on the topic of statistical analysis and our posting habits, especially with respect to *drawing power*, given the Zim's propensity to mimic slashdot (slashdot.org), why not start to steal their concept of meta-moderating? Not necessarily to apply it to the proposed ignore function for use like it is on slashdot, but so as another way of mindlessly comparing ourselves, based on how our posts are ranked by our peers. Besides, there's plenty of times I've felt like moderating some posts off-topic. And of course there are the benefits or actually modding up good posts...
Aw hell. The problem with this is that with all the stats are really just a way of turning this board into a bigger pissing contest. None of this will ever happen. I'm just waiting for the big threadkilla himself to chime in here on our assorted ego trips. I *knew* I shouldn't have asked about this...
I apologize for being a Buffy/Angel mark.

I think I believe that.

The "drawing power" idea is somewhat interesting. Of course like everything you going to have people continuing responding to their own thread just to save it and bump in and keeping it alive. Plus we all know list threads are the reality TV of message board, some people hate it but they always garner ratings... My post per thread is okay, got a 3 pager, a few double pager's. I also got 1 or 2 reply threads and even one ever dreaded goose egg, but I usually average double digit replies. But one thread I made would balloon my number, much like the short relief picture allowing 6 runs in one-third inning. I had the misfortune to say the news of Austin's Arrest which got 160 replies.
Another interesting number I look at are people posts to new threads ratio. Mine is about 20:1, which I think is okay (I hope). I try not to do repeat threads that's done and write something somewhat original (might be the reason for not having a higher PostPerThread count LOL)
Was mentioned Three times, 3X, 3X. In the "Great Wieners" thread!
I rarely get involved in these types of discussions for the simple reason it's mostly harmless suggestions.
But in this case, I want to comment if only because I've seen problems arise from something as simple as this. (And trust me, if used effectively, I'd LOVE to see a small stat like that.)
On the EZBoard, there were some problems based solely on numbers. I wish I was making this up.
Some people started criticizing people's opinions based on the fact THEY HAD A LOW POST COUNT and thus their opinions counted for nothing.
There was a fellow who would cause repeated problems and bragged about the number of clicks his posts would get, as well as replies - thus proving how mighty he was.
Things like drawing power could be misused. Start only list threads "name your favorite wrestler" and you have 900 replies on the spot. It's irrelevant and will ultimately lead to some headcases. Bannings and deletings will take place, people will cry, everyone will add their two cents, and my head will explode in the process.
I'm just pondering the chaos that could occur from thread rating or any of that ilk in the Politics forum. I know I'd spend all day just giving everything Grimis says 1 star
Seriously, the Zims have things set up quite nicely as is I would say.
Super quiet night for a dekamegaclick - something called DataForSeoBot picked it up. "Closest" W on either side were like five hours before and after: Big G (-3810) and Sec19Row53 (+3995).
