On ESPN News, EJ Hradek just said the Bruins are close but Modano wants to stay in Dallas. The Bruins offered 20 Milion over 4 years. Hradek said Modano will stay with Dallas for less.
Originally posted by piemanESPN Radio reporting that 35 year old Mike Modano has agreed to a deal with the Boston Bruins. He's been a Star since 1988. This would be very cool.
I think this is a big mistake by the Stars. Modano has been in Dallas since the Stars got here and is undoubtedly the face of the franchise. He's done more to sell hockey than anyone else and has been the most popular Star for a long time. Business-wise, I don't see how Modano walks while Zubov stays (hockey-wise, I can understand). Hockey is a tough enough sell in Dallas already, especially after the lock out; I foresee small crowds and smaller tv ratings.
"The translation is literally. "Your City. Your Equipment." So I guess this means that you can use this channel as your equipment to take over the city. Great."
there has also been talk that the Modano signing would be a precurser to the Bruins trading Thorton's rights. I want Thorton to stay a bruin, but management there has done so little right in the last 20 years that I wouldn't blame him for leaving.
Now THIS is what's been missing for a year. It's good to have it all back. Love all of this activity, and the Flames have joined the fun in signing Tony Almonte and Darren McCarty.
Wait, did I just say THE FLAMES HAVE JOINED THE FUN AND SIGNED FREE AGENTS????
I love this salary cap stuff. If this is what's to be expected every year, I like it.
EDIT: Apparently, THREE Canadian clubs have expressed a severe interest in signing a certian All-World defenseman from New Jersey. Two of which are "small markets" based out of Western Canada. I'm hoping either one of those two land him, because that would be a HUGE difference maker.
And Dunk: Kevin Weekes, Marek Malik, and Martin Straka all signed with the Rangers.

Marek Malik - isn't he the third string 2 Guard for the Portland Trailblazers ?
Hopefully the Rangers are being smart (yeah, right) and saving their cash for next year's UFA crop. The problem is, I just can't see Slats resisting making a run at Naslund & Forsberg (Ulf & Anders Part 2)

The defending National Champions, 38-0 last year, have started off 4-0 this year. This is a great story, thousands of people come to their home games despite hockey having absolutely no chance of becoming a varsity sport (thank you Title 9). http://www....
