With the NHL out on strike, I'm curious to know what percentage of the population here will check out the minor leagues, to fill ther hockey hunger? Being back in the hotbed of Ontario hockey, I'm looking forward to checking out the Sudbury Wolves frequently when I move up north later this week.
With that said, how long can the Minors' last while the NHL is locked out?
There are many reason to watch the minor leagues. Aside from affordable tickets, refreshments, and such...it's good to support the players and their efforts. I've also found the environment at a minor league game to be much more exciting, and the fans to be much more into it. True, there will rarely be people would paint the name "BARRIE COLTS" on their chest to show to the world, and hte games may not be televised, but regardless, there's the emotion involved from the people playing and those attending.
To be honest, I attended an NHL show last year, and I was very much unimpressed with the ticket and concession prices, and the numerous delays as the game was a televised game on CBC (gotta love HNIC).
Anyhow, enough ranting on my behalf...I do urge those who enjoy hockey, to take in a minor game. I'd actually implore everyone here to take in the lowest tier possible, if that's available in ones community. More folks in the stands is always a good thing.

Strongest possible agreement here.
I was a fixture at AHL Philadelphia Phantoms games for four years, then moved my ticket plan down the road to the ECHL Reading Royals (decent level of play, cheaper & better concessions, better parking, shorter and easier commute, fun mascot, fun atmosphere, and no nagging fears that my ticket money would end up in Bob Clarke's pocket and help him screw up the Flyers even further). Either one is several levels of magnitude more affordable than the NHL clubs, and (IMHO) just as entertaining to watch.

You know what? I did vote for Gore, he did win, and I'll be damned if all those things didn't come true!" -- James Carville
