If Mayweather is taking it seriously, he knocks out McGregor in a minute or less. If he isn't, he just dances around for 12 rounds and jabs while McGregor can't lay a glove on him.
If McGregor adopts the Roddy Piper-at-Wrestlemania 2 strategy, I withdraw any criticism I ever had about this fight.
George Michael weighed his options. Maeby had chastised him for not taking risks, and what would be a bigger risk than perpetuating a lie about software just to ignite the passions of a woman? Of course it would be a lie, and since Maeby wouldn't know it was a lie, he wouldn't appear to be taking a risk. Perhaps the bigger risk was to tell his father he was lying, that he came up with it because he wanted his father to leave so he could enjoy what remained of his senior year. After all, he wondered, wouldn't that be the course of action taken by an overtly sexual man, a man who owns a pair of matador pants? He had not responded now for 41 seconds according to his unfailing internal clock, and it was time to come clean.
Let's open this back up for anybody who wanders by tonight: who wins this? And are you actually watching it live?
I expect I will be far away from this fight when it's actually taking place and expect it will be short and sweet, unless they suddenly manage some pro wrestling-style booking.* No way Mayweather doesn't win... but how entertaining a shitshow would the fallout be if somehow he didn't?
*if there's a way to milk a second meeting between these two, wheels have been spinning for months to figure out a way
5 people have each bet 1 mil on Mayweather to win. This is like wCw in the late ninetys. Shit show or not hype attracts attention which attracts cash. I'm hoping for a South Park Jesus/Satan finger poke of doom.
They had it on in the bar of the sports club I was at this afternoon and I watched a bit. Not sure what round - but it seemed well underway. Let's say 3rd/4th. It looked pretty insipid to me - almost exactly what I would have expected a fight between two multi millionaires to look like. Certainly not interesting enough for me to stay there.
So, a stoppage in the 9th? For those that saw the end - how was the nature of the stoppage. Was he getting pounded or was it a more technical stoppage?
Stoppage came in the 10th. McGregor was gassed and couldn't get his arms up to reliably defend himself so the ref stepped in. MMA fans in my atmosphere were livid that the ref didn't let the fight finish. Boxing fans in my atmosphere said the fight would've been over in another 20 seconds anyway. I have no opinion, other than I'm glad I didn't pay for it and that it was at least more entertaining that the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight
Watched it at the neighbors with a few other couples, but the main attraction was their 19 and 17 year old sons ordered it, and the living room was filled with sixteen upper teenage boys. THAT was a fun atmosphere, split about 50/50 with who they were rooting for. The fight itself was pretty damned entertaining, too, until Mac got gassed. Yeah, if the ref hadn't stopped it, Money would have took his head off. I really did enjoy the two hugging after the fight, tho, and laughing together.
Laughing about how big their bank accounts were about to become.

To be fair, McGregor didn't keep his hands up until about the 7th or 8th round anyway.
I guessing the ref stopped it like he did to keep McGregor from being knocked out cold and embarrassed. He was clearly spent, but considering he hasn't gone that long in a fight, I'll give him credit.
Mayweather let him punch himself out. Smart boxer.

You're absolutely right. But Mayweather could've ended it in the 2nd round if he actually came to box. Like you said, McGregor didn't learn defense. And Floyd is an impossibly smart boxer. It's astonishing how one person can be so completely stupid in all other aspects of life but is also a genius in a boxing ring. And it's not from being punched too much. Boxing truly is what he was born to do.
