According to KSDK TV in St. Louis, Kurt Warner will be released after June 1st. Unnamed sources in the Rams organization confirmed that Warner will be released.
Warner played in just two games last season for the Rams. He joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent and led the Rams to a win in Super Bowl XXXIV and led the Rams to another Super Bowl. Warner was a 2 time league MVP.
Warner has passed for 102 touchdowns and over 14,000 yards. He has a career passer rating of 97.2
Every time people bitch about professional athletes being greedy and having no loyalty, they should think about stories like this. Three years ago they were saying Warner was one of the best QBs EVER and now hes out on his ass. Thats how fast it can change for an athlete. In three years you can go from MVP to losing your job and being cut from the team. Amazing.

"I want what you want. Yes, that's it Mr. Anderson. Look past the flesh, look through the soft gelatin of these dull cow eyes and see your enemy."
There is something fundamentally wrong with Warner. That was evident when he deferred going in. Any good QB believes he is the best and if you don't, you have no business in the game.
Hell, we're still trying to iron out the details of a potential Tim Couch trade in time for the draft...hmm, Kurt Warner backing up Brett Favre until Craig Nall is ready...hmmm...
Ah, screw it, we've gotta deal with the McKenzie Mess first. There goes the double-dreadlock secondary. :-(
Star wipe, and...we're out. Thrillin' ain't easy.

Any ideas where he might end up? Oakland might be a possibility.
It looks as though Martz is tipping his hand for the draft. I expect the Rams to draft a QB sometime the first day (not the 1st round unless someone falls.)
He had a good run but it really looks like there is something wrong with his delivery. Maybe it was the fear of being knocked around as his offensive line was not that good the year before and he came down with a case of the jitters.
Are you a professional halfwit or talented amateur?

Dallas has been looking into Vinny Testaverde seriously but I can see them being interested in Warner. Their two big needs were a running back and a veteran QB....they'll get the back in the draft (Kevin Jones is my guess) but they'll have to look elsewhere for a QB. While Testaverde may be the answer (probably not) Warner is worth a look.

Please don't say that. I hate Dallas with a passion (Skins fan) and I love Warner. I can't root for Kurt if he lands in Big D though.
Landing in Oakland would be perfect however, although it would be quite a sight to see the Raider nation having to cheer on the nicest and most humble guy in the league.
Oh and Dr. Dirt, I wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment of Warner's attitude. There is nothing wrong with taking it upon yourself to take up for another quarterback. Bulger needed to finish the season by himself, and Warner did the right thing. Warner might still believe that he is better than Bulger at the QB spot (I think he is concussions notwithstanding). Of course Warner also wanted to leave St. Louis, so that probably factored in. On the whole though, we need more QB's like Warner who get over themselves enough to see the big picture.

Yeah. Dallas. Warner had a hard time getting along with Mike Martz. Lets throw him in there with Bill Parcells! THAT would be funny.
It's not that Warner has worn out his welcome, I think the his wife being on the radio and tv everytime you turn around, and blasting Martz had something to do with it.
I am happy he had a few good years, but his time is up, and he needs to move on.
I would love, LOVE for him to end up in Oakland. Just what they need, another washed up old guy. I can see him getting killed in the parking lot after a repeat performance of the game against the Giants last season.

Also, the two things that matter most if you're a QB are putting the ball where you need to and making good decisions. He's had a couple of concussions and a bad thumb over the last few years, which will greatly hinder both.
Hopefully, his wife was far, far, FAR away when they made this announcement.
I always had a soft spot for Kurt partly because I'd seen him back when he was but a journeyman Admiral. I don't remember being that impressed with him at the time, but hey, its not every day you see a future Superbowl winner when you live in Scotland.
That said, I'd rather he return swiftly into the depths of oblivion rather than relaunch his career at the Cowboys. The look on Parcells face if Warner ever told him he'd be better off playing Quincy would maybe be worth it though.
I think it might be good for the Packers just avoid Warner and Couch and draft someone like J.P. Losman. Warner is damaged goods and Couch is unreliable, while drafting Losman you have a young guy who can learn and step in when Favre retires.
I think he'd be a nice fit with either Miami or San Francisco ... I think Kurt still has a couple more good years left in him and would like to see him succeed somewhere else ...
I know they have Trent Green, but Vermeil won his only Super Bowl with Warner at QB. The Chargers could be considered a possibility if they trade out of #1, as he can't be worse than Drew Brees. And Arizona really doesn't have a QB either, despite Green's delusions.
With God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.
God, keep Warner out of Kansas City. I will not watch a game that he starts, and I will turn off the TV when he comes in for mop-up duty. We can't afford him anyway, I don't think we're clearing any cap room in June.

Are you saying ND wouldn't get in the top twelve? Because if they are, there's no way that the Orange Bowl wouldn't put them in over Ohio State (especially since we just had a Miami/Ohio State-Fiesta Bowl)
