I love Jin/Sun episodes, and this was probably the best one yet. Who knew that Sun was the biggest badass on the island? A cheatin', lying, girl-from-Deadwood-shootin' spitfire, that one.
The Red Sox bit at the end was hilarious, mostly because of Jack's incredulous reaction, and then got even funnier when Ben tried to explain what happened ("They were down three games to none..."), which made it sound even more made up.
So, they crashed on Sept. 22. Going by the 'each season is (one of the numbers) days long' theory, we've been through 42 days in Season One, 23 days in Season Two, and just started Season Three. Does this mean that they'll get off the island and the series will end after 108 days -- on New Year's Day, 2005?
Scene: Mark DeRosa's brain. The year is 2005. Part of Mark DeRosa's brain: Come on, another position change? One day it's second base, the next day right field, now it's third? Why, I oughta go into Buck's office and throw his talking fish on the floor! Other part of Mark DeRosa's brain: Hold on, other part of the brain. We're making $500,000 this year. Last year we made $725,000. All for playing a damn kids' game. This is, as they say in Brainland, a no-"us"-er. We're not going to complain. Part of Mark DeRosa's brain: You're right, dude. Let's go back to looking at this crazy porn Teixeira gave us!
I swear, they should have named this episode "BA Alert" with all the badasses showing up: Sawyer pouring out the canteen, Sayid planning to single-handedly kill a gang of Others, Jin's sweet pistol work and the number he did on that guy, Sun busting a cap in that condescending Other's gut. The only thing I didn't get was why Kate didn't go nuts on Juliette when she had the gun on her (that was Juliette, right?). Woulda fit right in with the rest of the show.
Who the hell was that girl Kate was talking to? Why didn't she tell Sawyer about her? Matter of fact, how come Sawyer hasn't told Kate about Karl? I apologize if there are obvious answers to this: I was interrupted by a phone call around this part of the show.
It was somewhat surprising to hear that they're still in 2004, although I suppose it makes perfect sense. It just seems like everything takes so.... long.... to.... develop. Big Bad, that's a good point about 108 days between the crash and the end of the year. I think that's the first I've heard of that connection. Sounds plausible, I suppose.
The Others have contact with the outside world! That's a pretty big revelation, no? Up until now, I don't think we've ever gotten any real, solid proof of that. All this Dharma Initiative stuff suggests that SOMEONE on the outside has contact with the island, but that's fairly suspect. Plus there's no proof that the Others are connected with DI anyway. But not only do they have actual contact with the outside world, they apparently have access to a TiVo to record baseball games. Heh.
The girl Kate was talking to was Alex, who is one of the Others and seemingly the most sympathetic of the bunch. She helped Claire escape and was nice to Michael when they had him captured last season. This is the first time Kate has encountered her, so it's likely Kate was just confused. It is highly speculated that Alex is Rousseau's lost child, as they both have the same name.

Wasn't there a supply drop from a plane last season ?

True, but that hardly qualifies as contact with the outside world. That just means somebody, somewhere knows there are people living on the island (or, at least, that there are SUPPOSED to be people living on the island).

(Unless perhaps that nifty little video of the Red Sox winning the Series came in with a DI supply drop...)

Alex was with Kate during the conversation between Tom (back when he was only known as Mr. Friendly) and Locke, Jack, and Sawyer. Kate is hooded the whole time, but Alex talks to Michael, so Kate might have heard her voice. Also, Alex grabs Kate (by the boobs) when they are on the dock at the end of last season. Still, for all those brief interactions its easy to think she doesn't recognize her.
Interesting that she was asking after Carl, though. Either this is more of the scheduled brainwashing, or she and Carl have their own anti-Other agenda.
The stuff with the Red Sox was hilarious, especially as a callback to Jack and his Dad from season 1. Henry Gale (is anyone ready yet to start calling him Ben?) can switch from creepy to funny with such ease. Is it possible that as the Others kidnap people, they use them briefly and then send them all home? Meaning that the good people on the list are people they are willing to let leave the island, while the bad people are irrelevant to them?
I like that we got an acknowledgement that Jin is learning a lot of English. I am disappointed however that they cleared up the ambiguity of whether or not Sun was sleeping with Jae. Although now we are back again to speculating whether or not the baby is actually Jin's. Its probably just me but it seems like every Jack flashback episode is followed by a Jin/Sun flashback episode.
At what point last season did Sayid become completely stupid? Did he not remember how when they killed Scott (or was it Steve) that they came in from the water?
I'll be curious to see what happens with Colleen and that guy she kissed before heading out. If she dies, it will be interesting to see his reaction. I can't wait to find out why the Others are being so antagonistic towards everyone. Sun asked to be let off the boat, and instead of just letting her go, the Others have now suffered another casualty.
I look forward next week to FINALLY getting back to catching up with the rest of the survivors.
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I just said...
I thought that one of the most interesting revelations was Ben's statement that he had lived on the island his whole life. To me,whatever the Others are up to is the most interesting part right now.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
I like the idea of the Red Sox tape and current information coming from the Dharma drops, but where is all the personal information coming from?
Next week should be good as we go back to two of the heavy hitters Locke and Eko. I'm also glad to see the Australlian dude in the previews, I figured he was all done.
"You taste like strawberries." "You taste like fish biskit." - best exchange of the night.
Sayid has seemed to lose his edge since the death of Shannon. Maybe what he really needs is some hand to hand comabt with the Others to snap him back. Henry/Ben seems to remember Sayid and "his fists"....
I was glad that the audience was reminded that Jin is a Korean Legbreaker - but he seems to be one with sympathy and that may come back to haunt him.
And Sawyer was right, Juliet would have pulled that trigger. Don't think Kate could have been fast enough to disarm her.

I'm guessing news coverage of the missing plane and interviews with relatives and loved ones.

Anybody else get a Darth Vader/Millenium Falcon/Empire Strikes Back vibe when Henry said: "I want that boat"?
People have been saying that Juliette looks familiar. I think I know where that comes from. Y'know that Dominoes' Pizza commerical, with "Fudge-ums" the walking fudge brownie? ("I love you, Fudge-ums!") I think Juliette plays the mom who answers the door.

Elizabeth Mitchell has been in a ton of high-profile stuff (House, CSI, Boston Legal, etc) where you may have seen her:

Okay. She was in other shows. But is that her in the Fudgems commercial?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Fhq08gtX-0 (Yes, after spending hours of research, I've found that it's correctly spelled "Fudgems")
But jumping back to the show.. I was trying to think WHO killed WHO first? Did the Others kill anyone before Mr. Eko introduced two of their skulls to a rock? That was either the first or second night on the island and Scott/Steve was well after that (and on the other side of the island to boot). Just trying to recall who drew first blood.
So the Others might be thinking: "these tourists killed some of us and shot our bear. Dicks". Of course, sneaking up on and kidnapping people ain't exactly nice to begin with.

definitely not her......though the Dominos question is also asked on her IMDB page (imdb.com) - was that you ?

Once Finn took over the Glee Club their loss was seen coming. I think the writers forgot that April owns the auditorium, I know I did. I did Love piano player's line about how the kids expect him to know what song they are going to sing.
