Being that out-numbered, is it really worth getting you face kicked in for a spot on SportsCenter????

His face looked real busted up too in that shot of him in the cop car. Man, some of those Royals players were pretty much stomping on the guy with their cleats too!
Now, there were actually two or three incidents of people hopping onto the field before this guy attacked the ump, right? That's just getting scary!
I would just like to say, those idiots are not representative of all Sox fans. They give a bad name to South Siders everywhere. What a dolt. If you're going after someone, go after Billy Koch, who blew his 2nd save in this big early season game. (Obviously the last part is a joke.)
Edit: Forgot to put something in: When they remodeled the stadium a few years ago, they lowered the wall down the foul lines by a lot. Now it is a lot easier to jump onto the field, as well as interfere with a ball in play down the line. I can't count how many times I've seen that happen. Although it is cool that the seats are so close to the field now, maybe they need to get back to that old wall. And start busting these people with some big-time penalties.

As someone who has been to probably over 100 White Sox games at the new park, I can say a couple of things. First off, this is not the norm. The new place is much calmer on the whole then the old one was (no more fights up in the upper deck) by a long shot. Secondly, I guess the Royals just kind of piss everybody in Chicago off somehow Seriously, the problem though is in security and access to that part of the stadium. The last couple of games I've been to the park has been fairly empty so I've bought upper deck seats and then wandered down to sit along the first base line. The only time your ticket is ever checked is for access to the lower deck in general, and I believe even that can be circumvented if you go through the bullpen sports bar in the right field area. While I would hate to see my ability to upgrade my seats for free removed, I think they need to start more aggressively checking stubs on people who are in the first couple of rows near the field. Right now anyone who wants to can wander down there after drinking for 3 hours out on the concourse. And while I know the 80 yr old grandpa or the 17 yr old girl who does security usually at Comiskey aren't exactly going to be intimidating, it would at least be a first line of defense to alert the real security as to possible problems.
On the other hand, if a fan comes down with the intention of attacking "El Gasolino" Billy Koch or Carlos Lee, I say give them a lead pipe to do their business with.

SIGH- their best start in YEARS and this is the first Royals thread I see this season... Oh well, at least they are getting SOME attention... If it takes drunken fan attacks to keep them in the news, I say keep them coming! If it were not for the fact that I can buy individual baseball games on digital cable though, and catch the occasional Royals/Angels game... I would be pretty much starved for easy-access info...

Same with the Phillies for me. Baseball folks 'round here don't seem to realize that we're heading towards a 1980 World Series rematch.
Come to think of it, the only time anyone mentions Philly is for the rowdy fans.
Yet mainstream sports media love questioning and dissing the intelligence and class of wrestling fan... Oh I'm not saying we don't have moronic wrestling fans LoL, but no more then baseball or other mainstream sports fans.
I hope he gets punished big time and do some time in the hole

The thing that really makes this fan an idiot: The White Sox had just taken a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the 8th, and had momentum. Moron hits the field, White Sox lose momentum, Royal come back in the Top of the 9th. Then again, I'm still waiting after 3 games for the first person from the new Monster seats at Fenway to climb down the ladder and attack a left fielder.

Why the Royals? I think the answer is pretty obvious. People were seeking their 15 minutes of fame. And it makes for a more interesting story if it happens against the very same team. And what better way than to try to recreate that moment from last year. Hey, there were four separate idiots who had the same idea, it can't be a coincidence.
And guess what, it worked, that guy who got to the umpire got on TV. I am convinced that was the goal.
This idiot's bail was posted at $250,000 and his lawyer called it oppressive, because his client:
A. Has been out of work since December.
B. Has an alcohol abuse problem, and had been drinking earlier in the day. no kidding...
C. Is dealing with the fact that his mother has breast cancer.
OK, he's been out of work since December, yet he can afford to go to not one, but two baseball games (he was at the Cubs game earlier in the day), and buy beer at said games.
This must be the way that he deals with his overwhelming grief.
His lawyer went on to say that his client had made "a mistake" and that persecuting him wouldn't "be justice".
