I like this. I'm curious to see Jake friggin' Roberts in a ladder match in '79. Some of those I've never seen and looking forward to seeing for the first time, namely TLC2 from Summerslam, TLC3 from Smackdown & Benoit/Jericho from the '01 Rumble.
Will this contain a documentary portion? Or have someone introduce each match?
I know it's been on a hundred other WWE releases, but this just seems weird without Michaels/Razor from Wrestlemania X. It would be like having a 'Best of Hell in the Cell' DVD without Foley/Undertaker.
Shannon Moore & Shane Helms vs. Jamie Noble & Evan Karagis vs. Kaz Hayashi & Jimmy Yang: WCW 2000
This is a neat pick. IIRC, this was a pretty good match during the end of days that got overlooked because no one was buying WCW PPVs and WCW went back to using them like jobbers soon after.
Anyway, WWE putting this match on the DVD, the TLC SD! (a great forgotten match), and an old Stampede match - someone did their homework on this one.
From the ladder matches they could have chose from the Stampede era, they picked a poor one. The match was invented in Stampede and made into a standby after Bret Hart and the Dynamite Kid started working with ladders. A Bret/Dynamite match would have been much better.
Whatcha gonna do when Mahkan-mania runs wild all over you?

Wonder if they'll edit out the fan who ran in.
They did, I have that match on another DVD. The match is moving along fine, but then the camera suddenly cuts to Benoit who is watching the fight from the stands (I forget why he was doing that). After a minute or so of that, they cut back to the match like nothing happened.
I'm happy to see a lot of the ones from TV in the line-up, as well as some that have never been on DVD before. Bret Hart/HBK from 1992 and HBK/Razor from 1995 make this a must own for me. Definitely one of the best line-ups for a WWE DVD set ever.

To answer your question, Benoit had made his long-awaited return from neck surgery and how fitting that it was in his hometown. He got into an argument with Raw owner Ric Flair, who then had him ejected from the building. He came back later in the crowd, wielding a ticket.
And the other DVD you spoke of (featuring the edit) happened on Eddie Guerrero's DVD.
Big Daddy Ritter! Good to know JYD will be included. I've never seen the match, and it was before he was too roided up, or too fat and slow. I wonder how it was.

One problem: The only Stampede footage they own is anything that doesn't involve Bret, as Bret bought his Stampede footage several years ago (sometime after the WCW library was purchased). Any Stampede footage of Bret on his WWE DVD was the result of him lending some footage to Vince to put on the set, but in order to get anything else of that category on a WWE DVD, they'd need to talk to Bret directly. Nope, it was a no-DQ match that happened to involve a ladder. Doesn't match the criteria, unfortunately.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
I'm loving that they're including the Jeff Hardy/Undertaker ladder match from Raw. As long as they keep the end of it (Hardy getting up, calling out the Undertaker, and saying he's not dead yet, and the final respect salute) I'm happy.
I've seen FOUR movies so far this year: Because I Said So - (2*); Borat - (5*); Children Of Men - (4*); The Last Mimsy - (4*)
Looks like a great lineup, and it will go some way to dispell the great myth that Shawn Michaels 'invented' the ladder match. In fact, in light of the WM X ladder match not being on there, does anyone else think that maybe an anti-HBK fan composed the list?....
Click Here (grantland.com) This is an interesting look (with video) of the Luger/Brody cage match from January 1987. I like seeing this kind of article out in the mainstream. It makes us look less dorky somehow.
