New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired forward Jozef Balej and a second round selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for right wing Alex Kovalev.
A good move for Les Habitants if Kovalev plays some inspired hockey. Sather may finally be doing what he should have done when he took the job... clean house.

And most of what he is having to clean up is the crap he tracked in himself over the last 4 years. Look for Nedved, Barnaby, Malakhov and Simon to be changing uniforms in the next few days.
And though I will loathe to see it, I am sure that Slats is going to trade Brian Leetch - probably back to his home state.
