The NBA is suspending Lakers guard Kobe Bryant for Wednesday night's game at Milwaukee for catching Minnesota Timberwolves guard Marko Jaric in the face Tuesday night.
After getting his shot blocked by Jaric, Bryant flailed his arms and caught Jaric in the face with 58.7 seconds left in regulation Tuesday.
This is the second time that Kobe's been suspended for a routine foul at a moment's notice, leaving zero time to appeal. Did Kobe kick Stu Jackson's dog or something? Why nail him for the same thing twice in a season and leave him no time to appeal in both instances?

The Wisdom of Homsar: AaAaAa! I'm open for interpretation!
He sure seems like he's throwing an elbow on the play. I guess I need to heed Phil's advice and watch how Kobe normally shoots (he says it's always like that).
Then again, even if it's normal, does that make it right?
Originally posted by It's FalseAlright, one time was outrageous, but now it's just gotten ridiculous.
Having seen video of the original incident with Manu Ginobili and having also seen video of this second incident with Marko Jaric, I assumed the outrage you expressed up there was over the fact that Kobe is out of control. Judging by the rest of your post though, I guess your outrage is over the second suspension.
HUH?!?!?
C'mon now, let's be fair. Routine foul?? He had a tenuous argument that he didn't do it intentionally the first time, but this is the EXACT SAME THING, in the EXACT SAME SITUATION. It's a thuggish, cowardly act, pulled off in a moment of frustration. He's just a sore loser. Frankly, I thought the suspension should have been longer, like 3-5 games.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is not and was not at risk for another suspension after elbowing Philadelphia's Kyle Korver.
League sources told ESPN.com that the incident was reviewed strictly to determine whether Bryant would be retroactively assessed a flagrant foul after his left elbow connected with Korver in L.A.'s 108-92 road defeat Friday night.
What I don't understand here is why Kobe seems to keep getting hit with these calls retroactively. If these fouls are as hard as the league says they are, then the referees should actually CALL the fouls. Shouldn't the refs receive some sort of punishment, as well? I mean, the NBA can't just keep punishing Kobe after the fact if the fouls are never called, right?

This is....odd. You can get called for a foul after the game?

1. They did call the foul on the one on Jaric 2. I don't know if you watch a lot of basketball, but refs have repeatedly proven they are quite good at looking the other way when "superstars" involved, especially when it's one superstar and one...other guy. I'd love for them to be regularly fined for sucking, but when's that ever happen in ANY sport? 3. Flagrant fouls are in a different kettle than regular fouls. (You probably know this.) 4. Kinda wish the league would look harder at the flagrant that DID get called on Brad Miller during the Spurs game - of course, maybe they did... and upheld it, which wouldn't be news and wouldn't be worth covering. My hunch is overall they review the calls a lot more than they review the non-calls.
This clip shows the foul on Jaric, which isnt really BAD looking, until they show the one from before against Manu Ginobili. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Y6FOsBjD3ik
Not to mention, he at least THROWS one at Raja Bell here. Not sure if it connected or if Bell is selling like a mad man, but there's no denying it was thrown. http://youtube.com/watch?v=6YbIpXxMm1M

Whoa, whoa, whoa, I miss Dan Duquette. The Sox went to the playoffs three times under his regime, drafted No Arm, traded for Pedro, Varitek and Belinda um Lowe, and signed Ramirez. And, most importantly, let Mo Vaughn leave town.
