Hey Omar, I've had a look at the sports wire in a couple of different places and couldn't find confirmation of this. What's your source (or if you can't reveal it, how reliable is it)?
Not that I doubt you or anything but what the hell would the Sabres management be thinking of in making such a trade? Gratton and especially Satan are two of their top offensive talents on a team which has trouble scoring at the best of times. Lubi Visnovsky is a good defender but Belanger isn't going to fill the net anytime soon. If its just a salary dump, with money and picks coming back, then you really have to feel for Buffalo hockey fans because its clear the team has written off this season (and probbly the next couple as well).

Okay, I just got home and have heard no confirmation about this and all the while that I was out, the morons @ ESPN Radio couldn't do anything but talk about the Lakers....of all freaking things.
There were rumblings all day yesterday around here (in Los Angeles) about the Kings wanting Eric Lindros, of all people. Which I highly doubted. Then Tim Leiweke, who's position in the organization doesn't cross my mind at the moment, was quoted as saying that "A big trade has been made." It was all over newsboards and Kings message boards. So, I don't know what's going on now. The "trade" was apparently "done" yesterday, but now, OBVIOUSLY, it may have fallen through and to be honest, I'm glad that it has.
As a Kings fan, hooray. The Kings really need to do something to bolster the offense. Even if they had Allison, they still needed it. Palffy is NOT producing, Deadmarsh cannot score 2 goals a game forever and Smolinski is yet to pick it up again. In fact, I think the L.A. defenseman have outscored the L.A. forwards in the last week or so.
As for Buffalo, I agree w/ you, it's a bonehead move. First and second round picks...whatever. Toss those because they're nearly nothing and the Kings won't get high draft picks anyhow. 2 million dollars will NOT keep this franchise afloat, even with the dumping of two huge salaries. Trade Gratton, maybe. Not Satan. Belanger and Visnovsky are good, but they don't replace you're two top scorers and they sure as hell won't draw you money.
So, if the trade eventually does happen, I wouldn't be surprised if the names involved have changed or if it's w/ another team or the Kings aren't involved at all.
Either way, my hopes have been dashed along w/ everyone else who started a thread about this in their favorite forums. It's encouraging to know that the at least the Kings are being talked about in big trade rumors. I just hope for the best, when contract talks come up w/ Deadmarsh, Smolinski, Miller, Potvin and all the other players that were signed to ONE YEAR deals, as is Kings policy lately.
Please allow me to state for the record that I sincerely hope your Penguins stay put despite any good natured razzing to the contrary I may have made. But is it just me or does that quote kinda not at all support what the story before it was saying?
