So surreal, but so awesome. I like that they're a) treating NXT like a separate promotion that talent signs to and b) acknowledging that these guys have histories in the indies/Japan/etc.

Everything is awesome.

Awesome, and well deserved. NXT will be THE show to watch with Kenta, Fergal Devitt, Kevin Steen and Sami Zayn all part of the roster.

Bring back Chris Hero and maybe add in some Jay Lethal and Cheeseburger and I think we have a winner.

There are days where I miss the Dreamcast.

Can someone explain to those not in the know what makes this such an exciting announcement? What should we be looking forward to when Kevin Steen makes it to the bigs?

He's fat and does piledrivers and thus is destined for a long and prosperous WWE career.

Canadian Indy Darling who is a great mic worker that can work unbearable asshole, intimidating scumbag, or your best buddy at the bar when he speaks. Is deceptively fast and powerful for his "build", extremely innovative in the ring and can wrestle with damn near any style type in the company. Anyone familiar with Sami Zayn will no doubt be excited to know Kevin Steen and Zayn will be reunited.

Plus he's fat and does piledrivers.

Cole: "Yeah, thanks to Kane. You should buy Kane a Rolex watch for what he did for you."
Rollins: "Oh don't be silly, Kane doesn't wear watches."

To get a general idea of what Steen can do, try and find ROH TV on your local stations this weekend. They're running Steen's final ROH match. Yes, it sounds like a disaster in the making on paper (his opponent is "The King of Never Was-es" Steve Corino) but I've heard good things about the actual match.

I'm Charlie Owens, good night, and good luck.

Steen is either going to rise to the top (well..main roster) soon or fail (like Hero)
As said, he's got tons of charisma and this ability to connect with the audience. But that's always been in smaller venues. It'd be interesting to see if it translates into a WWE arena.
I would have loved to see him in a gimmick like the Shield.

I -hope- that they give him and Zayn a program together.
Even if it's for one night and just so we can all acknowledge their long history.
He's the one that kicked Generico out of ROH, it'd be only fitting for Sami to 'welcome' him.

Speaking of that. Wow. NXT's roster is better than pretty much every Indy federation out there.
Zayn, Steen, Devitt, Kenta, Neville can headline any card.
Add to that Calisto, Tyler Breeze, and several other talents that might not have the indy background but certainly can work.. No wonder NXT is the best show WWE has to offer right now.

I'm surprised at all the reply's here. ROH doesn't get talked about much, if at all, on here.

I always liked Steen because he's Canadian, but he's also a regular guy: he's married, has two kids, and loves zoos. In interviews he comes across as a genuine nice guy.

Bleacher Report has a great write-up on him right HERE. (bleacherreport.com)

At this rate I'd probably be fine with them just keeping all these guys in NXT. :)

I don't mind heels doing Bad Things as long as it's made clear to the audience that they're Bad People doing Bad Things AND they get comeuppance for it.
