So I learned something new ... please correct me if I'm wrong ... I always thought that a team HAD to designate someone as the franchise player. It appears the Titans didn't tag anyone by the deadline. So it's just an option?
We're going to get so much ass here... like boy band ass.
They need to get this deal done...after what he went through with Warren Sapp in 2002, only to come back and prove to be a fixture on one of the most underrated O-lines in the NFL, we've gotta ink him. He's one of the reasons Ahman Green is the best Packer rusher since at least John Brockington...maybe Jim Taylor or Donny Anderson. (Or Paul Hornung...or Eddie Lee Ivery...or MacArthur Lane...)
Star wipe, and...we're out. Thrillin' ain't easy.

I wouldn't waste my franchise tag on Jevon Kearse. He's a hell of a player when he's healthy, but he misses about as much time as he plays. I don't think he draws as much interest on the open market as healthy guys in other areas would for that fact alone.
There's a lot of buzz that the Seahawks will make a major play for Kearse, but the numbers I heard on the radio were $35 mil for 6 years with a $15 million signing bonus. At that point I think he's getting paid WAAAY too much because he's "Jevon Kearse" as opposed to a guy with good performances but an iffy injury history.

Not to mention he totally disappears in the playoffs!
