I can't believe this Justice League movie is actually happening. Long story short: WB has fast tracked a JLA movie to be directed by George Miller. Apparently the movie will be a mix of live action and motion capture. They want it in theaters by summer 2009. The plot is taken right from the Infinite Crisis set up: The JLA vs. Maxwell Lord and the OMACs. No Brandon Routh as Superman (Tom Welling seems to not be under consideration either), no Christian Bale as Batman. Chris Nolan's Batman movies and any further Superman movies, if Superman Returns sequels get made at all, will exist in "separate universes".
Adam Brody (Getty Images photo) This weekend, Young Hollywood stepped into the superhero hall of justice to see who will get the parts in the big-budgeted Warner Bros. tentpole movie "Justice League of America."
Director George Miller flew in Saturday from his native Australia for a marathon casting session that started Sunday and continues Monday, seeing 35-40 actors test for roles in the comic book movie.
Miller is seeing about four or five actors for the parts of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and the Martian Manhunter, with a few overlaps. A few nonhero parts might be testing as well.
On the roll call are Adam Brody (Fox's "The O.C."), Joseph Cross ("Running With Scissors"), D.J. Cotrona ("Windfall"), Mary Elizabeth Winstead ("Grindhouse"), Michael Angarano ("Sky High"), Teresa Palmer ("Wolf Creek"), Max Thieriot ("Jumper") and rapper Common.
The cast of NBC's "Friday Night Lights" is well-represented as well, with Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki and Scott Porter also among those testing for parts. No costumes are involved in the tests, which are being taped as actors read script pages.
If the names feel young, it's because Miller is looking for actors to grow into their roles over the course of several movies. Sources say Miller, known to be a methodical director, is testing not only for the roles themselves but how the actors interact with one another while keeping an eye on the look of the whole group. The director is due to present his findings to the studio midweek.

I think Adam Brody can be good for this movie, especially if he's as big a comic fan as his OC character claims to be.
As for Common, can we get someone else BESIDES rappers/singers (Common makes three after Tyrese and T.I.) to try out for John Stewart? Are you telling me there aren't any other black actors in Hollywood that can tackle this role?
I've liked Adam Brody ever since Gilmore Girls and pretty much watched the last two seasons of the O.C. solely because of him. I think he would make a great Flash.
I also like Scott Porter. Good actor and has that good looking superhero look. The other males I've never heard of and I can't see any actress as Wonder Woman really.
They're using John Stewart and not Hal Jordan? Oh well, at least if this movie sucks they won't ruin my favorite character.

I dunno, Mos Def would be kind of boss.
And Tyrese certainly looked the part in Transformers.
I'm surprised no one's went to bat for the REAL Flash: Michael Rosenbaum. His hair's even red when he lets it grow!

I would be SO with you on this one...if it was Wally West. But it's looking like the film wants to go with Barry Allen, so Rosenbaum wouldn't necessarily work.
And hell yes, I would also be on board with Mos Def as John Stewart.

Yeah, I'm late on this bit... Viacom owns Comedy Central. Viacom also owns Paramount, which is putting out MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: III. As bad as all this is with Tom Cruise being able to 'censure' SOUTH PARK, this is also great for the show as well.
