Sad day for Jerry Rice fans. I was hoping he would get one last season, even if it would have been in Denver.

Jerry Rice had a great career but he would have been the 4th receiver and probably wouldn't have been the productive.

But I still wish it would have been with San Francisco instead of Denver.

The greatest receiver to ever catch a football, hands down.

Canton is already clearing a space for him in 5 years.

As you can see by my signature gif. I am a Cowboys fan with no love for San Francisco but that might make me a bit of an authority on just how good Rice really was. The guy was simply the best and maybe the best at any position ever IMO. He simply was ALWAYS open! You could key on him and double him, it just didn't matter. I never could understand it. It wasn't speed, he just KNEW how to get open. I remember when he was going for the touchdown record on MNF and everyone knew they were going to throw to him and knew that they would be throwing to him in the endzone. Again, it didn't matter. Jerry caught the last two TDs in near triple coverage. He was simply unstoppable.

In retrospect, I honestly think it was Jerry that made Montana and Young great and not the other way around.

I was talking about that last night with someone. Tampa Bay, a team which won its division last year, belongs right in the middle of the "worst teams in the NFL" discussion.
