Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today. Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We'll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin
Tony Khan tweeted the death of Jay Briscoe in an auto accident. Two people in car died in an accident at 5:30 p.m. in Laurel, Maryland. Just horribly tragic news.
It might be Laurel, Delaware. It doesn't matter, really.
An ROH Original, Jay was half of the first ever Ring of Honor match at The Era of Honor Begins (23 Feb 2002), where he was defeated by Amazing Red. His final match was exactly a month ago tonight for House of Glory.
Jay Briscoe was the perfect professional wrestler. Crazy bad ass gimmick that was totally believable, unlimited move set, fantastic promo, looked like a guy you might not want to make eye contact with if you met him on the street, he never went less the 100% in the ring, ever … and he was funny as hell. He checked all the boxes of what I like about wrestling and is one of my all time favorites.
This was and still is really gut wrenching news that’s even worse when I found out his children were also involved and seriously injured in the crash. I really hope they can recover and lead as normal a life as possible. He seemed like a guy that really loved his family and it’s a reminder that life can turn fast and I should take more time to enjoy every minute of it.
RIP Jay Briscoe and thank you for all those amazing moments.
