I'm hearing mixed reaction for this episode, but it was one of my favorites this season:
-The Hiro storyline finally went somewhere! -Mr. Bennett regained his hard edge! (That scene was COLD!) -Claire and Flyboy messed with the Cheertator! -Peter inadvertently taps into Hiro's power and leaps into a "12 Monkeys"-ish future. And brings a date!
Sure it wasn't all great. Mohinder continues to be a gullible yutz. The insufferable Jessikki is back. And the horrendous green screen at the end nearly sucked all of the drama out of the surprise ending.
But all in all, a good episode that felt like we started moving toward a solid goal. (Even if that goal is pretty damn similar to last year's.)

I may need to go back to not watching the previews at the end of each episode for next week's episode because they already gave away Bennet firing the gun last week, so there was no suspense for me at the very end. Too bad because that was otherwise a very well done scene.
I agree with the assessment of the Hiro storyline. Also, Sylar has the best evil looks I've seen on television in awhile. He creeps me out, in a good way.
I really enjoyed this epsiode, I thought it was the best of the season bar the Mohinder storyline. All the other stories I thought really finally got somewhere and the last 10 minutes gives the season a direction like last year had.
I am pretty convinced now that Kensei is actually Mr. Petrilli- father of Peter and Nathan and Claire's Grandfather. Anyone else making this connection?

Now that you mention it, the picture of Mr. Petrelli does look a bit like Kensei:
Maybe he faked his own death. Didn't he jump? I think that was the story, if I can remember correctly. Since Kensei is "immortal", he could fake a jump. How was Takei killed??? The killer jumped off the building with him. Kensei is upset with Hiro for changing the past. It makes perfect sense!
We might have this season all figured out!!!

Originally posted by piemanAs for Suresh, I cringe when he comes on the screen, but my wife likes his character. What the....??? How do you account for this?
My fiancée is the same way. I think it's a combination of his good looks and the accent.

I'm still under the assumption that the killer is Matt Parkman's father, the "nightmare man". And that he wasn't actually there, he just made Kaito Nakamura believe he was being pushed off.

I spent my productive day at work researching my theory and it was ultimately wrong. Apparently one of the comics that go along with show featured the elder Petrilli in Vietnam is some documents about Project Longwolf. Turns out he was injured in Vietnam. I won't spoil what his power was but you can read aboutt he series for yourself here:
I also stumbled across the spoilers for the season up untilt the holiday break. They are out there if you look hard enough and they seem highly credible and all the dots connect.
At any rate the spoilers didn't spoil anything for me because I can't wait to see how they get there!

Watching this episode, I realized that Bennett is the only character I'm remotely interested in. Sylar is too self-absorbed, Suresh is too stupid, Hiro is too trapped-in-a-plot-I-don't-care-about, and Peter is too amnesiatic for me. Claire might be interesting, but West is WAY too irritating for me to stomach. I just want to slap the shit out of him, and Claire for being stupid about him. Although her father should be more forthcoming about why he's being so concerned about her dating habits. Still, I enjoyed Bennett shooting Ivan.
I do look forward to seeing how everything starts to come together. Should be fun.
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I just said...
http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/georgearomeroslandofthedead.html The trailer isn't that great, but it IS a new Romero zombie movie so I have much faith that it will kick 47 kinds of ass. Man I hope Dennis Hopper gets eaten.
