I dunno. Wouldn't that leave them with Adrian "No, The Cruddy One" Peterson as their feature RB, or did they draft someone I'm forgetting this year? I mean it's not like they can expect the passing game to carry the offence.
They might still think Benson has just enough 'potential' to hold onto unless he gets a lengthy suspension.
Of course they could take Ricky Willaims up on his offer and make a move for him to give Cedric that calming, well-reasoned influence he needs.

Yes. This would solve all of the problems.
Matt Forte was drafted in the first round this year.
They drafted Matt Forte out of Tulane in the 2nd round (OT Chris Williams in the 1st) this year. He had over 2,000 yards last year, but I don't know that he is ready to step in as a rookie and start.
From what I've read down here in Austin, Benson refused the Breathalyzer and a blood test, which I believe means he automatically gets charged with DWI if he fails the field test. It still sounds like he might beat the previous boating charge, but two incidents in a month is not going to help his already shaky rep in Chicago.

Ah, yes. Apart from that one I mean
I smells a suspension in the works for Cedric.
Shaun Alexander and Travis Henry are doubtless super excited by news of his release though.
Because they released him so quickly, do the Bears avoid punishment under the new guidelines regarding behavior that went into place on all incidents post June 1?

I think in theory they can be punished cos the offence was after June 1, and he was on the Bears roster at the time.
I'd hope Goodell would only use The Power for teams who turned a blind eye though, or who show a pattern of having multiple offenders (insert Bengals joke here), so unless he decides to make an example of them I'd have thought they'd be alright.

Agreed. Although if he DOES punish them, I hope he makes them start Benson :-)

No, they don't have to offer him anything. He's still got 3 years on his non-voided contract, and will count against the cap. He gets paid, just like Me-shawn was getting paid by the Buccaneers. Given his comments, he's got to be gone (IMHO).
