The more I think about it, the dumber it is for them to kill Paralayx. My understanding is that it IS the yellow fear power that drives batteries, rings, etc. Even if we are just going by the movie, it still would work better to have Paralayx seduce Sinestro to the yellow instead of Sinestro just trying on the ring, "Just the tip, just to see how it feels".
Parallex isn't really dead. When the Guardians made the Yellow Ring, it came from the same energy that corrupted the Guardian. In theory, as long as the energy is out there, it can still corrupt. I am intrigued when Parallax almost killed Hal that if they are going to say that some of Parallax transferred to him to do the Emerald Dawn storyline. Saving Amanda Waller is probably the worst thing Hal did. Especially if they use her like Marvel uses Nick Fury.

I saw GL today and enjoyed it...audiences might just be jaded/over so many superhero origin stories but as a major fan of the Lantern mythos and what Geoff Johns has done with it over the past decade, I thought it was a pretty solid translation. Blake Lively is way too young to believe as Carol being the same age as Hal. I thought the idea of a Guardian mutating into Parallax worked fine, as opposed to a glowing yellow bug creature. Hammond was pretty much dead-on but kind of a weird and grotesque supervillian to focus on. The last act felt kind of rushed as a big finale, but I was quite happy with the majority of it.

I too like the "Guardian seduced by the power of fear" aspect. I suppose they can always go with "Fear + Host = Paralayx" but then, that would make Sinestro Paralayx. Oh well, just say Sinestro's will is SO damn strong that he can control fear.
I was hoping we'd get big goofy head Hammond by the end, just because I wanted to see how that would translate to live action.
