In the trailer I saw on youtube it mentions Gordon, Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler, Batman, and Poison Ivy. Now who did they leave off this list? Of course we all know who. Its sad that he has stolen any story about Gotham from Batman. That's what all the talk will be about. When will he show up, has there been any references to him, any Easter eggs? I bet they have to resort to it by the second season, if not the end of the first.

...the whole point of this show seems to be avoiding telling yet ANOTHER Batman/Joker story, and seems to be focusing largely on Gordon as the main character. I'm not sure if I'm understanding your complaint.
Joker or even talk of the Joker character should not be showing up until kid Bruce grows up to become Batman, IMO. Unless we are getting a REALLY unique take on the mythos of both those characters in this series.
Unless they go with Jack Napier over Joe Chill, we probably won't have Joker on the show. Which is fine. There is zero need to have Joker on this show at least the first season. If they fast forward from season 3 to 4, they can do Joker. Yet, this is Fox, so it getting past the first season is going to be a chore. Gordon with no mustache is a no no.

They seemed to be going through the entire Rogue's Gallery in the commercial except him (and Mr. Freeze). I don't think avoiding the Joker is in the card-- er, is happening in this series. (unless it gets canceled before they get to it)
The second they get a second season dip or need a compelling cliffhanger for another season, you'll see some reference to The Joker. There's no real reason not to have him in there, especially after what Smallville got away with.
Even still, it's going to be Pre-Joker, like Pre-Riddler and Pre-Penguin, and is going to really defeat the purpose.
