Can I just say

- are you posting in a hurricane? Why do they flap that fast?
- the white borders look bad - not curvy.
- they're really distracting because of the constant movement, and don't actually add anything by moving.

Looks like the newer versions have at least addressed two of the problems (though I'd have 'em go even slower and the background color probably shades some of the border problems.)

Point taken, but compared to some of the huge graphics that some people have in their .sigs these are miniscule.

If you use Firefox, get the AdBlock extension: it's flexible enough to remove any image you don't want to see. And you can use wildcards.

So if you don't want to see those flags, you can add something like this to your AdBlock:

http://ideaspot.net/*

This will block all images from ideaspot.net, hence all of those little flags.

If you find someone's sig banner or even an avatar a little on the excessive side, you can do the same thing. Using spf's as an example (it was the first example I found), the following entry would block it:

http://www.mnftiu.cc/mnftiu.cc/images/war.320.gif

For the record, I'm not actually doing this myself, but if you feel strongly enough this might be a good way to do it.
