I would’ve been content if the entire episode stayed at Castle Black. Holy crap, two Stark children get to reunite for real and this is already the best episode ever. Brienne staring down Davos and Melisandre and calmly explaining that she executed Stannis is another top moment. Finally, the letter from Ramsay...omg that letter. I heard it in Ramsay’s voice in my head as Jon and Sansa read it aloud and it’s perfect. Come and see, bastard. Sansa convinces Jon to unite the houses of the North and, along with the Wildlings, take back Winterfell.
Littlefinger is back! And it’s very clear that Uncle Petyr is running things at the Vale via young Lord Robin Arryn. Littlefinger manipulates Robin into mobilizing the knights of the Vale to protect Sansa.
Theon makes his way home to the Iron Islands and has an uneasy reunion with his sister. It’s gonna take a lot for Theon to reconcile with Yara, but his supporting her claim to the throne is a good start.
There are multiple armies that are conceivably going to converge on Winterfell to battle Ramsay. And if this is the same battle that’s been previewed as the grandest GoT battle scene ever filmed, it’s going to be glorious.
Tyrion opts for diplomacy over force by negotiating with the slave masters believed to be funding the Sons of the Harpy. This displeases Grey Worm and Missandei very much, who think Tyrion is in way over his head. Hard to believe that Tyrion can be outmaneuvered, but I do not have easy feelings about how this will end.
Jaime and Cersei use the news provided by the High Sparrow (via Tommen) that Margaery’s walk of atonement is imminent to make temporary peace with the Small Council. They all agree that the Faith Militant needs to be taken out and start making plans to do so. But by feeding the news about Margaery to Tommen, it’s clear that the High Sparrow is expecting this type of response. It’s also clear that the Council’s plan will not go as expected.
Jorah and Daario are in Vaes Dothrak to rescue Daenerys. But rather than flee, the Unburnt sets the temple where all of the khals are gathered to decide her fate on fire, killing all except (obviously) her. In the most badass scene in a long time, she emerges unscathed from the burning temple, and now has the Dothraki worshipping her.
Ramsey again since the moment we heard his name, wins without trying. Poor Osha. The rest of the episode was great. I am naming the group at Castle Black, Team Its Complicated. I am rooting for them thus they will all die.
Danny doesn't need the dragons to handle these fools. It does feel like Tyrion is either in over his head or being very subtle with his plans with the others. It does seem like the High Sparrow and his flock are coming to an end.
