Its Wedding season again, but no one died yet. Marg and Tommen get hitched even though in the books Tommen is nine and his favorite thing to do was stamp orders, because they made a thumb sound. So, keep that in mind as he is tagging Marg. Marg wants Ceresi gone, but she is not going anywhere. Especially, when dealing with the religious problems of the Sparrows taking the High Septon out for a naked walk. The High Septon complains to the Council yet somehow lands in jail while Ceresi grants the High Sparrow played by the brilliant Johnathan Pryce as the new High Septon.
The other wedding news is Littlefinger's plan is to marry Sansa to Ramsey Bolton. You scream now. Yeah, the plan is for Sansa of all fucking people to take out the Boltons. Reek hides from her as Sansa returns to Winterfell. The first Stark back and reward is this. Daddy Bolton doesn't trust Littlefinger either, so I am sure this will work out fine.
Jon is again offered a part in Stannis' army. He refuses now that he is Lord Commander. Davros tries to convince him which is cool to see those two interact. Jon eventually executes the cowardly Nightwatch dude after refusing to follow orders. It plays out like Ned taking out the guy who ran into the Walkers in episode one. Stannis sees all of this and nods his approval. Apparently, killing Mance caused the Wildlings to tell Stannis to piss off. For a guy with a sorceress, how did he not see that coming. Oh yeah, she is terrible that is why.
Tyrion and Varys stop by a brothel with a prostitute dressed up as Danny. Much to the chagrin to the other brothel member, Ser Jerch. We learn Tyrion can't get it up anymore when he seduces a whore. While he is taking a piss Jerch kidnaps him and says he is taken him to the Queen. Which Queen is up for debate.
Arya cleans the House of Black and White. She also has a female bully there. She throws out all of her stuff minus Needle which she hides. Brie is going to train Prod to be a knight. And that is about it.
This was a slow somewhat boring episode. We get the pieces are in place, but its time to make some moves. Out of the match ups of Tyrion/Jerch, Marg/Tommen and Sansa/Ramsey, I think all three are doomed in some way. We all want Jon to take Winterfell especially with Sansa being there, yet that would be the easy thing to do. As we know GRR Martin does not do easy. Hopefully, the TV writers decide doing things a bit fast is the right way to go.
I try not to be a book guy and just enjoy the show. This season has been especially tough for me to do that, but the Sansa storyline is so off track that it sort of broke my brain and ruined the rest of the episode.
I enjoyed the books as much as the next person, but books four and five are, by far, the weakest. And I can't help but think that the show is weeding out a lot of the nonsense and filler about which those books went on and on (and on and on and on) and are FINALLY getting to some important plot-lines.
Per usual, Sansa gets a crazy bad wrap - she's paid seven-fold for whatever teenaged whining she did during the first season and I hope she has some heroic role rather than just ending as a pawn or plaything - and anyone even remotely familiar with Ramsay Bolton should shudder at the things that *potentially* await her.
Marg, Jerch, Ramsey, Prod... I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I miss John...
