What happened to our Folding@Home group? We used to roll 42 deep, now its just one.

Its a great cause; can we get a resurgence?

It sucks that the PS3 doesn't support it anymore.

I haven't received a unit to work on for weeks. I finally gave up on my (now ancient?) single CPU client and downloaded a new multicore one. I'm starting a new unit but have fears that it may fry my work laptop. I've turned it down to 50% (2 procs) and only run it when I'm not at work.

I had the same issue. The GPU version was having server issues and wouldn't send/receive work units for a few weeks during the spring or summer, so I quit running the client. I just haven't logged back in to see if it is working now.

I don't own a powerful desktop anymore, and I doubt my low-end tablet would be of much help.

PS3/XBox support seems like a huge plus for these types of applications. What's the reason for getting rid of that support?

The message Sony & Folding put out when Folding was taken away read to me like "PS3 users have given us all the packets we need, we'll just be be working on analyzing the date, thanks!" and so there was no need to really continue on. But that might have just been both sides putting a nice face on it.

It never was supported on XBox for whatever reason. PS3 support going away was never really explained, only that they had some conversation about it and both sides agreed to cancel it.

PS3 closed down the whole Life with PlayStation section and Folding seemed like the only one that even slightly took off. My hunch is there would've been some cost to move/update the Folding App and the Folding staff didn't feel it was worth what amount Sony was asking them to pay. As far as the PS3 was, especially compared to computers when it came on line, it looks like it was really only a small percentage of total packets.

That's odd - I'm getting new units whenever I'm finished one.

I want to see if a Mac version is available too.

I run it more often in the winter as it heats my house.

I'm due to fire it back up soon.

We had two Norcent LCD TVs on display at work. One we went through two units of trying to get it to display the video for our loop channel (38); it would play the audio but not the picture.
