TSN.ca reports that the Calgary Flames have acquired San Jose's third-string goalie Mikka Kiprusoff in exchange for Calgary's 2nd round draft pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Kiprusoff is expected to join the team in time for their game on Tuesday. Flames rookie Dany Sabourin is expected to head back to the Lowell Lock Monsters of the AHL after going winless in three starts for the big club.
Overall, not a bad move for the Flames. With the Four Million Dollar Man Roman Turek out for God knows how long, Darryl Sutter HAD to do something. It remains to be seen how well McLennan & Kiprusoff will play together.
Not a bad pickup for the Flames. Sabourin clearly needed more seasoning in the minors and Kiprusoff has played well in the NHL before. However, he played quite poorly this year, losing his backup spot to Vesa Toskala, and it remains to be seen if he can regain his form. Clearly Darryl Sutter, who had him in San Jose, believes that he can.

Hopefully he'll start(or get some time) tomorrow night, as I'm going to the Saddledome to see my hometown Leafs take on my new home's Flames. The way both teams have been playing recently, this game could really stink out the joint.
Kiprusoff's been practicing with the Sharks, so he's probably in game shape. With the layoff, I expect McLennan to start against the Leafs and Kiprusoff to start the game after that one.
There's nothing to the RSL offer. Malkin and his agent have each said he's going to sign an extension under basically the same terms as Crosby as soon as he's eligible. The Hossa news is not as uplifting.
