Just got Extras Season One on DVD - the latest Ricky Gervais show. For whatever reason, it took almost a year and a half for this to come out on DVD, and the first season was only 6 episodes long.
I'm three episodes in, so I'm now familiar with the main characters and their respective personalities. Gervais' character, Andy Millman, evokes the obvious comparison to The Office's David Brent - constantly gets into embarrassing and uncomfortable situations, usually due to a stupid lie he told and then covers up with another lie, and another... until finally admitting that he was lying. But he seems like a nicer guy than Brent ever was.
Anyone else have the DVD and have any thoughts? Apparently, season two starts on Sunday night on HBO.

I think these two statements go together.
HBO has a habit of releasing DVDs right before the next season statts. I know they did it with deadwood.
BTW, Stephen Merchant's new radio show (solo apparently) starts tomorrow on BBC6 Radio at 10 AM ET.
The premiere episode of Season 2 is available for free on iTunes under the podcast section. I watched it and enjoyed it already. This show was great in its first run and I look forward to the few episodes we'll get for its second season.
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I just said...
G & M both said in an interview that they would only do two seasons of Extras, just like The Office. But apparently, he's now considering a third. Food for thought.
Just started watching this show. I've finished Season One and have seen the first 2 episodes of Season 2. I Love it and it is a definite "must get" on DVD.
One of my favorite moments is when Kate Winslet is giving phone sex advice dressed as a nun...The looks on Gervais and Jensen faces is priceless!
Orlando Bloom is my new favorite guest star (not counting Patrick Stewart, who transcends all and sees everything). More Stephen Merchant is extraordinary.
