Ok, Philly radio is reporting today (6AM)that the Eagles are hours away from signing Warrick Dunn ftom the Bucs. My question is who goes? Staley was ineffective last year as a rusher and Buckhalter has promise but he was involved in the pot incident which landed him in Ried's doghouse for a few weeks.
My choice is that Staley goes. He was good catching passes out of the backfield but as a rusher he would have a great game followed by 3 crappy ones.
You're in a desert, walking along in the sand when all of a sudden you look down and see a tortoise. It's crawling towards you. You reach down and flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over. But it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping.
question: why isn't andy reid addressing the WR position? McNabb needs more weapons. hoping pinktson (sp?), mitchall and thrash will step up is wishful thinking. why aren't they after carter? or another experienced WR?
"Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs. Are you kidding me? Playoffs? I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game." - Jim Mora
Reid is not interested in Carter because he is a cancer to his team. Reid wants guys of high character. He has maintained that he does not want to bring in a high priced free agent WR because it would take away from the development of the young WR's. But I do agree with you that the WR position needs to be addressed.
Thrash and Mitchell are considered the #1 and 2 receivers. Not bad but not great. Pinkston and Na Brown are not good enough to be a #3. Hopefully, Green Bay will cut Antonio Freeman and Reid picks him up.
The other position that needs to be addressed is Safety. Damon Moore was cut loose because he is not expected to be finished with rehab until December. The Eagles need to sign someone to fill the spot opposite Dawkins.

You should get your wish some time after June 1. I'm betting that the Packers let Freman negotiate with other teams before then. He's as good as gone, unless he changes his tune and accepts a pay cut.
What does the Packers WR group look like for next year?
It looks like Glenn and ???????
Is Green Bay really that down on Schroeder(sp?) and Bradford?

Glenn, last year's number 2 pick Robert Ferguson, Donald Driver, an early round draft choice this year, and whoever they grab off of the scrap heap. Not that I said it was any good, that's just how it looks right now.
Bradford has already signed with Houston - no big loss there. He's an injury waiting to happen, and isn't ready to be a starter. Schroeder is a track man still learning to play football. His route running leaves a lot to be desired.
interesting move for the falcons, now all they need are some wrs for vick to throw to.
also, i can't imagine the bucs are going with alstott as their only main rb. gruden liked to have that speedy pass catching rb, so i wonder what their next move will be.
60 watts? what do you think this is, a tanning salon?
One of Gruden's strengths is his ability to adapt the offence to the Talent. 2 years ago the Raiders with wheatly and a mammoth offensive line were a dominating run team. Last year they were pass happy due to losing two starters on the line for most of the season and having two others playing hurt or infrequently. Now I don't think that the numbers will be as good in Tampa due to less talent but they will find a way to move the ball.
I thought Alstott seemed to step it up when he was treated like a halfback and given the ball 25 times instead of being treated like the fullback. Maybe Gruden can make him into Tyrone Wheatley II. I think they would definitely need a quality 3rd-down back if they did.
So much for splitting duties. Looks like Warner's a full-time starter now. ESPN - QB Leinart out for season so Cardinals sign Rattay Tough break for the Cards, but this is the sort of reason Warner was kept around in the first place.
