=-=-= Nothing for North Americans this week, which just serves to make me all the more jealous of the Europeans. The first English-language Picross game since Mario's Picross on the old Game Boy? I will have to... acquire that one. Somehow.
Well, that just gives everyone a chance to catch up on last week's releases. And supposedly the DS version of Spidey 3 is (shockingly) the best version of the game out there if sites like IGN are to be believed.

Hmm! Are there any good websites for ordering games from England? Picross DS sounds interesting, but it'll probably get released over here anyway so maybe I'll just wait.

The only game I've imported for the DS was the Japanese version of Picross (dumb choice on my part - they announced the European version about two weeks after my Japanese cart arrived). I just hopped on eBay and used Buy It Now from someone with a good feedback rating and there were no problems at all. These days, I acquire DS games through different means, so I'll just do that to get the new Picross.
As an aside, if anyone's interested in buying a Japanese copy of Picross DS, I'll sell it for reasonably cheap. It's fairly easy to work your way through the menus even if you can't read them (I can't, and I managed fine) and there is no North American release scheduled as far as I know...
The Japanese get ALL the good puzzle games. Sudoku Gridmaster was part of a whole series of Japanese games with separate carts for Picross, Kakuro, Hitori, Nurikabe, and Slitherlink puzzles (among others), and a game just came out last month with Pic-a-Pix, Fill-a-Pix, and Link-a-Pix puzzles. Good stuff.
Relations between the US and Europe have been strained enough over uncompromising war policies and disparate diplomats, but Nintendo's decision to localize Picross DS for our Atlantic opposites while ignoring North America's pleas threatens to escalate the conflict even further. Already, protesters are rallying on embassy steps, stomping on french fries and singing hymns of freedom.
Hoping to avert an international crisis, GameStop has put up a Picross title on its site for $19.99, announcing a July 31st stateside release for the logic puzzler. For some, that distant date is unacceptable. Others refuse to even believe that it's the same game and not a generic product. To appease their ire, online shop SendIt has agreed to offer the UK version of the game at a discount. Picross DS has a £14.89 (approximately $30.00) listing on the site, and CAG forumers have reported paying $32.87 after US shipping and handling charges. As far as import prices go, that's quite a deal!
Actraiser was pretty fun when it came out. I don't know how it'll stand the test of time, and maybe I just remember it because it was one of the first games on the system but I'll give it a try for sure. Yeah the Mario Party reviews are not kind.
