During last night's Padres telecast, Rick Sutcliffe (who used to do color work for the local Padres team) made his way into the booth in the 8th inning.

And boy howdy, was he wasted.

An mp3 of the debacle is available here.

Not included in the mp3: Sutcliffe's mic being cut off and Sut saying in the background "I'm cut off!"

(edited after listening again to the actual broadcast... not so much a yell, as a drunken exclaimation)

HIGHLIGHT:

Sutcliffe: George Clooney! You been reading about all that? You been seeing that?
Matt (or is it Mark?): [incredulous] George Clooney?
Sutcliffe: Yeah, he's up there with um...he's up there with the Congress, he's trying to get everybody to get everyone to go over there and...solve that thing.

Freaking hilarious. The story about Murray and Bellhorn that they tell after the clip, if true, is pretty funny as well.

Wow.

Sut speaks the truth though. What the hell is Matty doing in San Diego? He could be big time. The guy is awesome.

If you can live there comfortably, which I'm sure he can, you'd be crazy to live anywhere else, wouldn't you?

(Although, I'm sure as soon as Tillamook gets a pro sports franchise, he's SO THERE. )

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

"I know, I know you are saying "sure there was some bad calls, but Jake Gyllenhaal obviously dropped too many easy catches and Ang Lee had some horrible clock management at the end of each half!"" (krakken2000)

I'd like to jump on the Cubs' bandwagon, but they just lost to the freakin' MARLINS yesterday! Seriously, it's like NO ONE over there wants the division. Ah, the NL Central. May the worst team win.
