Yeah the guy is funny and charismatic and all that good stuff, but he's still a cruiserweight. Should he really be the "top dog" in wrestling right now, I think it was a bad gamble. He should be feuding with Edge over the IC title instead.

Would it be so bad if he lost the belts before Wrestlemania to someone better? Like...David Arquette. That was a joke but everyone knows the Rock won't win. They haven't even put time into the angle. This is the undisputed title for the 1st time ever, it deserves more attention right?

Jericho certainly is different from all the champions we have had before. But he makes up for his 'small stature' in his promos and his abilities (true, not stellar but he can mount some nice offense).

And alas, they don't need to build the title match, because it is the Rock fighting 'this annoying guy who insults us and TheRock'. If Rock wins it, people will pop anyways..
If he loses (please, please, please!?) they will boo anyways.

Oh, Benny566.
Jericho sucks as a champ, but why? Is it his fault or the fact that the angle he is in doesn't get that much attention.

His Raw promo sounded alright to me..and then a fight with Flair!

Don't make me beat you! Jericho's been doing a great job as a heel champ.

Unfortunately, they haven't really got him in much of a program with anybody. He'll take on The Rock at the Rumble, but the build-up to this match has been absolutely ZERO. That's not good - not good at all. But, with WM coming up, it's safe to assume Jericho will drop the belt(s) either at the Rumble or No Way Out - probably No Way Out.

Jericho has his problems, but he isn't a Cruiserweight. He may be a little shorter (with lifts) than most of the main eventers, but in terms of "how big does he look" he's certainly bigger than Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels, and is around the same size as Steve Austin and Bret Hart.

It's extremely hard to put over someone as Unified Heavyweight Champion of all existance if you give more attention to HHH, Austin, Vince, and Flair. Include the impending [rumored] return of the nWo, and the fact that he hasn't made himself a) a new belt and b) a major part of the show yet, and he's basically sucked into the midcard even while wearing the damn belt that rules all others.

I didn't miss the Rock last night... did anyone else? No, you know what, I take it back. It would have been better, um, you know, BUILD UP, to have the Rock there to kick Jericho's ass last night, to at least tell us Y2J has a shot of winning the Royal Rumble main event.

Heck, the way things are going, the Undisputed Championship won't even be the main event...

That's what I'm talkin about. Jericho is a great talent, but this may be too much for him. Isn't he still in his 20's? I hope he loses the belt, it may hurt him in the long run, you know 'droppin the ball', but it may help. If they're trying to turn him into Flair, I don't think it'll work.

Nah, he's just getting screwed again. Can't wait 'till they really screw it in by having him job to anyone imaginable and then disappearing off the face of the planet for 5 years... and then coming back for a Royal Rumble...

Jericho is in his late 20's early 30's area. He's older than the Rock I know that much. I think Jericho is don't an outstanding job for what he's been givin. He has had no program and he’s been made to look weak in almost every match he’s been in, but he still get pretty good heat and putting on good matches. The problem isn’t Jericho the problem is the WWF. Jericho said it last night that the WWF use to revolve around the champion, right now it revolves around a guy, no matter how great he is, who hasn’t wrestled in 8 months. Now that being said I think Jericho will loose the belt before Wrestlemania. He isn’t a multi-time super big name champion like Triple H or Austin, but for a first time champion he’s doing a great job and he will win the title again. In my own opinion he’s doing better the Triple H’s first reign as champion and we all know how that turned out. .

Maybe if Vince McMahon spent more TV time developing Chris Jericho than giving it to himself, Jericho would be universally looked upon as one of the greatest WWF Champions of all-time. His promo ability is at least as good as The Rock's, and his wrestling ability is clearly superior. And when he's in the ring with Ric Flair, it's pure gold. Those two are among the greatest promo cutters of all-time.

The difference between Jericho and guys like The Rock and Austin? Jericho does not have to rely on silly, stupid or annoying catchphrases. What? I said he doesn't have to rely on stupid catchphrases. What?

Sweet God, why doesn't everyone think the “what” thing is the most annoying thing in the entire world? But I digress.

I, for one, am glad to see Jericho finally getting this opportunity to be the man in the WWF, and I hope he gets a nice, long title reign to prove all his naysayers wrong.

Of course, he won't. He's keeping the belts warm for one of the Big Three. You know it, I know it, and everybody knows it. He certainly won't be the champion come WrestleMania, of that I think we can be sure.

If Triple H or Austin wins the Rumble, don't be surprised to see The Rock walk away as the champion after the Rumble-- or at No Way Out. I hope Vinnie Mac proves me wrong, and the WM main event is not some sort of combination of those three men.

Hell, Benoit's coming back... let HIM main-event WrestleMania against Jericho for the belt! That is, for a Benoit/Jericho mark such as myself, the dream match.

You know NEO a lot of people gave the same arguments for HHH when he first won the belt. I don't think it's too much fro Jericho at all, when Jericho was a face and HHH was the heel champ...remember the little title victory tease they had. Jericho WAS ready then...they head a great story going to (with Jericho insulting Steph and all) and the fans gave him a massive pop.

I truly think Jericho is ready. I think he's doing an outstanding job...the one thing that's really gonna help Jericho right now is a program with HHH. Have HHH win the rumble...DON'T have a #1 contender's match at NWO, just build the Jericho/HHH main right away.

Have HHH mention the fact that it was Jericho who put him out for 8 months, and build on that...a perfect way to get Steph away from HHH too. If they actaully work on the story I think Jericho will be seen as a good champ. I say this again with WM being in Toronto, and the WWF usually doing very Canadain-centered programing for most Canadian shows I wouldn't doubt Jericho being in the main event.

That's a good point, Benoit would have been a better choice. Y2J getting the belts was a nice surprise but they need to get serious now. I don't remember the last time Y2J cleanly pinned any of the 'big boy's', even when he was a face. At least when Flair was king, he won some matches on his own. They're gonna turn the Undisputed belt into a joke like WCW did. I'm sorry, I just don't see Y2J as a credible champion. Not at that level anyway. That HHH/Y2J fighting over Steph idea sounds really good. I hope someone from WWF is reading this.

Jericho not getting a clean win is not Jericho's fault. It's the bookers and Loosie your dead on with a great idea for Wrestlemania main. I like it. I like a lot.

I just think HHH is the only guy out there right now who would fit the Unified role perfectly. Jericho *seemed* ready, but just isent doing it for me.

I think everyone is forgetting that jericho is a heel champion. I mean a real heel, not just somebody that fights the faces. As a rule, heels are villians. They lie, cheat, steal, and do everything in their power to win, by hook or by crook. This is to infuriate the fans (which it is doing) to the point that they want nothing more for the heel to lose clean to somebody, anybody for that matter. Jericho's job is not to be 'credible', it's to get a reaction from the fans. If the idea that Y2J is the WWF champion will make the fans buy a ticket just to see him get his ass kicked, then he's 'worthy'.

It's nto about wins and losses, it's about putting asses in seats. At the rate Jericho is going, I think he can do it.

EXACTLY
The Honky Tonk Man was a Champ who couldn't get a clean win on anyone, yet for over a year he managed to hold onto the belt, making for some good feuds to build up others, and eventually being beaten senseless by the Ultimate Ego. Guarenteed if you were a fan at the time, you were insanely behind Warrior, if for no other reason than to see him beat HTM.

I know, I know, that was the IC, not the World, let alone Unified title, but the idea holds the same. Maybe they want a Truly monster Triple H face push.

Regardless, many Fans Despise Jericho, and are hoping to be there when he loses, knowing any night, could be the night it happens. What more can you ask from a Heel Champ?

As for when he was ready, and the fans being behind him,(Someone mentioned his Title Reign Tease a while back, saying he was ready then and had the fans behind him) keep in mind, this guy Popped over a 7 Point rating when he first debuted on Raw a few years back, with a truly stellar entrance and promo. But how many weeks have gone by now where Jericho has appeared at the end of the first hour, leaving others (Rock, Austin, Test Even) to be in the Main event.
I love Watching this guy and his Promos, but I still don't feel he's on the WWF A-list yet (Guys who are the top, creme of the crop superstars as choosen by the bookers and Vince..Triple H, Rock, Austin, 'Taker etc..) but he's damn close.
