Please stop placing ads for shows I have no intention of watching in the lower left corner of my screen FOR THE ENTIRE FUCKING HOUR (or 90 minutes if it's "SNL"). I'm THIS close to giving up your network altogether, save the Brian Williams half hour (and MAYBE "Meet the Press"). I don't NEED to watch "Law & Order." I don't NEED to watch "SNL." Jay & Conan can suck it (sorry, Conan). Your attempt to get me to watch "The Apprentice" (or "American Gladiators" or "The Choir Reality Show Competition" or whatever the hell it was) is having the opposite effect - not only am I NOT watching the show you're advertising, but I'm this close to spending all my NBC-watchin' time finding ANY other channel that doesn't feel they have to cram an ad into their bug.
Zed, it drives me crazy also and it is almost every station. I couldn't tell you about the major networks as aside from an occasional ball game, we don't watch the networks.
I guess NBC heard you...sort of. According to AVS, all night they were using a transparent version of the obnoxious AMERICAN GLADIATORS SUNDAY 9/8C bug w/Olympic Rings that is at least a tad more acceptable than the solid color version. While I wasn't present for that, I did see Leno's east coast feed where they had a screwed up solid bug at the start (it was flickering in the middle of the screen with a couple of added random vertical lines) and after a minute they switched SD viewers to the center-cut HD feed and you could just barely see the last words of the bug just peeking into the left part of the screen. Then they killed it for a while, and came back with the transparent one. Fun.

It's ZERO more acceptable to me. 'bye, NBC. I have seven months to prepare for skipping the Olympics. I'll be ready.
This has spread to their other channels now, I can't watch a new episode of Monk without a bug in the corner telling me I'm watching a new episode of Monk. THANKS
You'll get no disagreement here. Someone on the AV board that was linked posted a link to a Lewis Black rant on the subject that was spot on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFYhupmhhBw
When does it end? They want you to watch an upcoming show, which of course will have something on the bottom of it's screen promoting an upcoming show, and so on and so on...
I hope it doesn't carry over to movies at the cinema and stopping the film halfway in order to show a trailer for an upcoming movie.
I hope enough people complain to NBC to make them stop the madness.

They'd probably do it to Raw as well if it wasn't for a giant, full color logo planted on the feed at the source.
This wasn't an ad, but it was the most annoying feed I've ever seen last night. The wife was watching Girls Next Door and they had a BREAKING NEWS update that took up at least the whole 1/4 of the screen at the bottom. For the entire time we watched(1/2 hour at least). News that warrented such a feed? Christina and Nicole give birth. It made the show actually on hard to watch for sure.
You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.
"Jesus Christ, he's got a fucking Sherman tank between the legs." (Cerebus)

E! just doesn't need a ticker in the first place. Either you wait for Seacrest or you go without.
Thread ahead: Strike moves Next thread: IN THE NAME OF THE KING - A DUNGEON SIEGE TALE (Spoilers!) Previous thread: (001#) ONE MISSED CALL... (spoilers, naturally.)
I flipped over to it because there was nothing else remotely interesting on at 8:00, and it wasn't the nadir of the sitcom genre like many of the critics were making it out to be.
