If DDP doesn't turn into a manager or color commentator, I wonder if it's possible for him to move into a road agent position like Arn did when he retired.
That being said, I wish DDP the best. I was never a fan of his interviewing style, but he busted his ass and gave 110% every time he went to the ring, and I can respect that.
That match against Goldberg at Halloween Havoc '98 *was* pretty sweet, for the record.
And so we say farewell to one of most consistently solid workers of the last five years. It's a shame the guy started so late in life-he had a knack for it, and I'd have love to see one more DDP/Benoit match.
RIP DDP's career. That's not a good thing, that's a bad thing.
DDP was easily one of the highlights of late 90's WCW. Sure, he played the trailer trash redneck card a bit, but hell, he looked the part. DDP's blonde mullet was gloriously tacky.
Best memories of Page? Got a few:
The Goldberg Match at Halloween Havoc
DDP vs. Sting for the Heavyweight title on Nitro, shortly after Spring Stampede. DDP actually lost the belt to Sting, then won it back later on the same night (Making him a two time, two time champ)
DDP/Raven feud: Just awesome stuff.
The Triad: Hey, I liked it anyway.
"All I ever asked for in life is an unfair advantage." Microchip, Punisher Annual #2
The Triad kicked ass! Anytime I have a legitimate reason to see Kanyon, DDP, and Bam Bam Bigelow on my tv screen I'm a happy man. Now Bigelow by himself, that's a different story...
I always liked DDP, I never bought in to him being one of the "ol' shitty guys ruining WCW", I always looked at him as one of the good things in WCW.
I remember when I first watched WCW and he looked awful and didn't like his stuff at all. He was the heel with the Diamond Doll and I think he lost a loser leave town match. He got off TV for a while, and then when he came back he looked fantastic and wrestled like he was a different person.
The whole three way feud for the U.S title was one of the best feuds I could think of, it was DDP, Benoit and Raven. DDP was champ for the most part and had great face/face matches with Benoit, then a good feud with Raven and had great three way matches involving these guys. A great few months that made the U.S title one of the more interesting titles... untill of course when Raven finally beat DDP for it and the next night jobbed it out to Goldberg for no appearent reason therefore killing the title.
other DDP in WCW stuff... The only good match I saw Goldberg in was with Page... During the "it's a shoot" era of WCW, Page was dissing Bagwell pretty bad, calling him mama's boy and questioning his manhood, and at the end of his rant, Page did his diamond signal and said "NOW that's a shooot" for some reason for him stating "that's a shoot" had me laughing.
One thing I always got from DDP was that he was a fan (or even a mark, which by the way not a bad thing it's a good thng) for what he does. He even said that during the Invasion angle he really wanted to be part of it because it was something that will go down in wrestling history as the most important angle ever. (err little did he know :(
I don't get it, everyone loves rats, but they don't want to drink the rats milk?
I will always remember DDP with the taped ribs during his many battles with the NWO. He was the man. Hopefully he will come back in some capacity with the WWE, but as he says on his site he is taking a break from the business to gather himself.
KIM PAGE, however, must join the WWE right away. This is not negotiable. (If Bischoff joins, Kim comes with him, that's it and that's all.)

I remember DDP was one of the first wrestlers to have an active internet presence. Was pretty cool getting his email articles behind the scenes. Hope that continues.
Favorite quote in WCW days - DDP vs. Macho Man: I'll bring the Lady (Kim), you bring the Tramp (Miss Elizabeth). Gotta love creative verbal sparring...it beats "well...you have a big ass!"
Other goodies: La Parka of course, his bragging of 53 ways of doing the Diamond Cutter, DDP in '96 giving props to his buddy Stone Cold Steve Austin doing a similar move in the WWF, the masses flashing the cutter sign, Karl Malone's Diamond Cutter when that Goldberg guy became champion, and Positively Kanyon.
DDP/Raven/Benoit for the WCW U.S. Title. That match was AWESOME.
While working security at a local indy show, I saw Ricky Morton's bare ass, and the next time I hear anybody out there say "playing Ricky Morton", the person they mention had best have a really nice ass.
Thread ahead: Why does everyone hate the Big Bossman & X-pac so much? Next thread: Awesome Darryl Moment.... Previous thread: Eric Bischoff/Vince Russo WWE Bound?
You're right. A little time line of the Title's WM changes would have been cool. And BTW, I think the Lita Trish match was short but cool. And Ivory's back!!!! lose the hat though. At least the female heels are on the same page.
