The Bulls dealt center Eddy Curry to the New York Knicks on Monday, ending a contentious negotiation in which the team insisted the restricted free agent take a DNA test over a heart problem.
Details TBA offically tommorow, maybe sooner elsewhere. The Bulls had been backing off the deal because they didn't want to take on contracts, but Paxson was apparently very unhappy announcing the deal, so I'm guessing it didn't work out.
Good luck Eddy - I didn't think it'd work out, but never thought it wouldn't work out like this. Don't go dying on me now.
So did we get a rack of basketballs out of this? I can't believe after the season he had last year we could just give Eddy away like this. I'm not a huge Curry fan, but he gave us a legitimate scoring threat in the low post (no rebounding, though). I love Tyson Chandler's energy and hustle, but he can't shoot to save his life. I've seen Isiah get swindled time after time since he's been with the Knicks, so hopefully Pax pulled off a good deal for the Bulls. Michael Sweetney and Tim Thomas? Maybe some draft picks? Seems a little suspect when he won't announce the details, though.

The trade is Curry and Antonio Davis for Tim Thomas (YES!), Michael Sweetney and Jermaine Jackson.
Antonio Davis is getting released and is going back to Chicago.
Y'know, I'll give Zeke credit. He went out this offseason and deepened the Knick roster and got a couple of perfectly acceptable centers. But he's still not trading for any defense and he got a defensive-minded coach. Curry is only 22 and a fantastic post player but his work ethic is questionable and he's not very good on D. Larry Brown has a bit of work to do to say the least.
The lack of defense is one thing but now there's the question of Curry literally dropping dead on the court a la Reggie Lewis and Hank Gathers whenever he plays. The doctors cleared him, yes, but you can't rule something like that out. That sounds morbid but the heart condition is the whole reason we're getting the kid in the first place.
Zeke gets bonus points from me for finally getting rid of Tim Thomas. He should've never dealt Keith Van Horn for this guy.

"The way I feel right now, I'd trade my mother if the right deal came along." -- Isiah Thomas.
As a lifelong Celtics fan, I have to say that the Celts look pretty good this year and they are as good as any team in the East. Now, having said that, I think they will get their asses handed to them by the West's best teams.
